Of course they are, - that's what they do on this board. And then they wonder why people sign in as an AE.. :wall:

I find that a bit odd. I needed to see DD before naming her (hence the list of possibles).

Niamh is a pretty name, but what if you'd gotten together with a Mr Greeve? :rotfl:

Lmao luckily I haven't! One middle name we discussed was Caoimhe which is pronounced Keeva and I couldn't stop laughing as I kept saying Neeva Keeva!

Keep going then and you're bound to finally come up with names you both like. As you say it is fun and you have plenty of time still. There are so many sites on the Internet to give you some suggestions.

You are defending someone who sounds like a total prat of the highest order.

If you think everything in the garden is rosy, fair enough, but Im not surprised people are concerned.

Seeing as you don't know me or my OH, I don't go out with prats and I certainly wouldn't be with him after 3 years if I thought he was, or if I thought he wouldn't let me embrace my roots.

I did ask him about it today and he said he just wasn't a big fan of the names, like I expected. Just trying to find one that he will like. To be fair he doesn't like many Irish names either!

Can I have some actual name ideas again now please?!

It always amazes me why people post on here asking for ideas for a name for their own child (or planning even before the conception!) when it's a very personal decision to be made between the mother and the father, and no one else.

I think you're getting a way ahead of yourself here tbh, and if you're already having strong disagreements now, what on earth are you going to be like when/if you do get pregnant?

I'm another one who thinks that it's not so much a case as your OH disliking the names you've suggested, but something deeper.
  • I think it's a bit strange to be discussing details of names, let sling trying to finalise a middle name, before you're even pregnant! Perhaps his reluctance to agree is because he's nowhere near ready to be seriously thinking along those lines!

I would be very concerned about the dominating approach he seems to have, and would be having stern words about any racism in my presence!!

We have decided on Niamh and Jack.

Problem is, I really want middle names and OH has left that to me as he isn't bothered too much about them but my mind is blank!

Anyone called Niamh is likely to spend rather a lot of her life spelling the name and may appreciate something easier to use on occasion (even if only when the server in Starbucks demands her name for the cup!) so a middle name could be useful here.

Similarly, your Jack may turn out to have a flamboyant personality and prefer a more exotic name. Or want to escape from a beanstalk phase.

That is how a lot of my family's names have turned out - one usual and one less usual in either order.
