Middle names?

OH and I started out TTC journey recently and a slightly premature discussion of baby names came up. We have decided on Niamh and Jack.

Problem is, I really want middle names and OH has left that to me as he isn't bothered too much about them but my mind is blank!

Any suggestions?

Or buy a book and stick a pin in a random page.

My middle name is tact - I don't use it much

My advice something that sounds good when said all at once

Also something that will grab your kids attention when used - after all only you will say it and then only when they are in trouble
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

I've looked on there but I'm looking for some more inspiration - the best ideas I've found online came from forums (although I wouldn't use the names myself)

Good idea - at the moment we've found great names but sound like a cleaning product when said all at once! :rotfl:

My personal opinion is I wouldn't give my child a middle name unless it actually means something, like the name of a dear relative or something like that. What's the point otherwise? But as I pointed out, that's just my opinion and I know a lot of people think different.
  • Hi Lulu,

Have you got any family names you could use? A lot of people I know use (for example) their Mum or Dads middle name, grandparents name etc as a middle name.

    Good luck! :)

We picked what we thought was a fab name for their first name and then but both grandparents as middle names. When you read and look at both of my children's names they look fab and it certainly got us brownie points from the family.

  • Have you thouht about using the name of a relative as middle names. Something like the name of a grandparent, favorite uncle, even parents names etc? Do any of the other names you were considering for a first name go well with Niamh of Jack?
Alternatively think of a personality trait you would like for your child (kind, strong willed, whatever) and have a look online for names that mean or stand for that trait?
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?

Difficult to suggest anything without knowing the surname (and you probably won't want to give that info).

Try saying the three names together - see if they sound right. Look at whether the three initials spell something like Niamh Isabelle Thomas (NIT).
