Just a quick one to anyone considering this - you actually get £10 off the transcaction through eBay at the moment as it qualifies for some kind of "over £200" discount.

    Just ordered it!
  • although reading other threads on here has been very useful (some of you are very kind and helpful), I am still at a bit of a loss.

Basically, I know that I want a king size medium-firm pocket sprung mattress. I'm not sold on memory foam, even as just a layer on top of springs. I know this for two reasons:
    1. I have been sleeping on one of these for the past 4.5 years.
    sleeplandbeds.co.uk/junior-double-pocket-sprung-mattress
For the first 3.5 years, I mostly slept on it alone and it was great, possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever owned (though this isn't saying much - I've slept on some awful lumpy messes). For the past year, two of us have been sharing the bed. This hasn't been so good - not only is it too narrow but the mattress has lost some of its springiness and just isn't as comfortable as it used to be. Hence I want to upgrade to something similar but bigger and ideally a bit longer-lasting.
    2. We went to our nearest large bed shop (Warren Evans) and spent a few hours lying on various mattresses. We decided that we would really like one of these.

Unfortunately, it is about twice our budget and the cheaper mattresses at that shop just didn't compare.

So I have been scouring the net for mattresses that appear to be as similar as possible to the Warren Evans Natural Air Pocket Sprung mattress, but considerably cheaper. I have found the following.
    mattressonline.co.uk/Product/Rest-Assured-Minerva-2000-Pocket-Luxury-Mattress-P1027
    mattressnextday.co.uk/mattresses/pocket-spring-mattresses/springking-grand-luxe-1500

    mattressnextday.co.uk/mattresses/pocket-spring-mattresses/springking-emperor-sublime-3000-pocket
    sleeplandbeds.co.uk/kingsize-mayfair-pocket-spring-mattress
    ebay.co.uk/itm/Restus-Chatsworth-5ft-Kingsize-2000-Pocket-Sprung-Mattress-Free-Next-Day-P-P-/200711546501?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Mattresses&hash=ite m2ebb572685

If anyone had any advice as to which of these are any good, or even which are going to be most similar to the Warren Evans Natural Air Pocket Sprung mattress, I would be eternally grateful.

    Thanks in advance.
  • hi is everyone still happy with the crystal mattress? I need to order a double divan soon think I have settled for the restus coral or opal but conflicting opinions on various sites about firmness are not helping, pinkypants do you have an opinion on these 2?

Only ever seen the Coral and Opal in pictures, from the description they are the next 2 models down from the Crystal.

As for the tension sorry I can't help there as I've never tired them.

Are you getting them at a good price?

As the link that was previously posted to the Crystal was a real bargain of a price.

I am looking for 3ft 6" large single size in crystal 3000.

I called homefurnishingsuk today asking how much pocket springs will be in large single size and the answer was 3000. Bit confused as how you can put 3000 springs in this size...

Also I going to use this mattress as a day bed. Not sure if it will be good choice for that?

The spring count on pocket mattresses is always counted on the 5ft version of the mattress, regardless of what size you are buying.

Large single 3ft6 wide is it by 6ft6 long or 6ft3?

If 6ft6 long it have around 2,100 springs in my book.
    3000/60 inches equals 50, 50 x 42 inches equals 2100.

It have a few less if it's only the 6ft3 version.

As for going on a day bed, well hmmmmm, mattresses are designed to be lied on, NOT sat. Having said that the extra support from the hand side stitching will be a benefit.

What's the priority here? The seating or the sleeping?

If sleeping then yes it's a decent matt for that job, if only slept on occasionally and sat on more often, then I would look at a foam mattresses personally.

  • it will be mainly used for sleeping...

I thought mattress is 6ft3 long.

The eBay link provided does not give any idea what will be the length of the mattress...
