Weekly Flylady Thread 15th September 2014

Stairs done, shower room sparkly, two beds changed, WM on, BM on, kitchen floor swept, one drawer turned out, supper prepped.
I was in two minds about posting this, but I've decided to ask for some Flylady help/vibes. I don't know if anyone else is following the poppy project at the Tower of London. I've put forward a name for the Roll of Honour (Lieutenant Kenneth Robinson) and should have been my grandfather - the fact that he wasn't was a complete catastrophe for my family. He was a doctor, and was killed on 25 September 1915. I put his name forward about two weeks ago thinking it would be weeks and weeks before they would get round to him, but it's tonight at 7.25pm. If anyone happens to be passing the Tower of London then, or knows of anyone who is, please could someone listen out for his name? He's the second on the list tonight, and I can't be there.Better is good enough.0 -
Beds made
Wheelie bin retrieved
Dishes washed
Kitchen S&S
My laptop updated & virus checked
Email inbox finally cleared!
Unfortunately got stuck in the "take this survey" vortex when dealing with one of the emails so not much else has been done. I'm going to have a Q(uarter)HC as its nearly my lunch time, get some washing on, and sort out some bits for work.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
honeybear i wont be anywhere near london but i will be thinking of your Lieutenant Kenneth Robinson at 7.25 this evening. so many brave people represented by those poppies it seems such a waste of lives. its not till you see that sea of flowers you really comprehend the scale of the loss.SPC~12 ot 124

Honey.. I shall send a thought up to heaven for him at that time. My should-have-been granddad was killed in WWII and the man my nanna married just a few months later was a horrible man, a horrible husband and a horrible father.. so many stories go along similar lines!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Thought I'd drop in for a swift progress report (and a sanity check).:D
Five blokes turned up at a little before 09:00 this morning; they had the entire kitchen gutted by 10:30.
I narrowly averted a full-blown panic attack - I so do not like people in my house.:eek::eek:
We are now down to 2 blokes (the others were along for the ripping out bit, to get it done as swiftly as possible).
Anyways, it transpires Bee and Screw-it don't have the worktop I wanted, and can't get it til 27th September; so the Chief Kitchen Fitter guy took a picture of what he thought might be a good alternative which they do have in stock, for my approval (wow, a bloke who thinks ahead!!) and I've said "yes" to it, so we're having a Beech worktop now.
They're currently installing cupboard bases, and if Bee and Screw-it can scare up the tiles I want (apparently they're having to raid their Bletchley and Northampton stores as they only have 2 boxes in the Milton Keynes branch - it's a right farce) we should have the tiling done also; we'll have no boiler til tomorrow as they've had to take it off the wall and prefer not to put it back til the tiling adhesive has set. However, we can use the immersion for hot water, and it's not freezing cold yet, so it won't be a big problem.
I cleared all the remaining washing early this morning (set the machine to come on at 04:00) but of course it's raining, so that's all hanging in the bathroom.
We've managed to get lunch (cheese on toast) and do the little bit of washing up in the bathroom hand-basin, but Mr LW has said if doing dins is going to be too problematic, we can eat out in the evenings - we'll see how it goes.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Morning Flyladies
Thank you Dusty and Natty as always. I am going to try my best to try my best this week, but we'll see
So far today I have:
Stripped three beds and washed the lot
Done a huge pile of WU, it's air drying but should be done in the next hour or so
Decluttered the DSs to school
Put away the gigantic blow up bed and shoved the boys bunks back into position, also rehomed the spare duvets and pillows
Decluttered my sister and nieces to New St station
Decluttered my face of tears, mascara-runs and snotty bits, I hate saying goodbye
Hung up the washing and refilled the machine
Everywhere is still a bit upside down, DS1 finishes early today as it's his school's open evening, I have an hour before he gets home, anyone fancy a HHC at 1.15?0 -

Well done LW. It sounds like your workmen are being very considerate :T
I lost over an hour this morning with an unplanned visit to the Dr: 40 minutes in the waiting room followed by 4 in the consulting room with a very nice, helpful, efficient locum who will refer me to the horsepiddle. Nothing life-threatening, just old woman
So our walk was deferred until after lunch, but at least it is a bit sunnier now. WMx1 will be switched on before we go out, and I have done some tidying and shredding and emails and put the evening meal in the SC. Will update the challenges list later.
Dh has changed ready to go out and looks remarekbly smart. I've got spotty socks on - definitely in my "rebel" mood today0 -

I've scrubbed my bedroom, the bedside tables have had a good wash down with bleachy water as they were sticky and grubby, and I've cleaned the windows. The mirror and all the pictures have been sparkled and the chests of drawers have had a good wipe over too, some of the "handles" (MALM drawers so it's more the tops of the drawer fronts where you grab) on the lower, hardly used drawers were disgusting
Bathroom has had a S&S, WU is away, kitchen has been tidied and a load of towels have been hung on any available surface, that's the last of the washing I'll be able to do today.
Waiting for DS2 to arrive, I'll listen to him whine about having to play rugby for five minutes and then I'll crack the vacuum out0
