Encantador wrote: »Anyone using t-mobile web n walk with their 770?
I am using Nokia N95 as a modem, accessing the internet and receiving email is OK, but can`t send email.
My POP email account is NTL and when using a o2 PDA, I just change the SMTP server to smtp.o2.com and I can send and receive using my NTL email account. With the 770 I have changed it to smtp.t-mobile.com (and every variation I can think of) without success.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
See if your ISP offer SMTP authentication, then you can use their SMTP server from outside their network. Failing that, why not just call T-Mobile and ask them for the SMTP server? (But keep in mind that their server won't work if you use a wireless LAN - and you might not want to tell them why you need to know if you're using the standard web'n'walk, which doesn't allow you to use your phone as a modem.)0 -

Thanks for that.
As I can send and receive when using my O2 pda, I am assuming the problem is not with my ISP (NTL).
When you say `ask them for the SMTP server`do you mean that I need them (t-mobile) to tell me what to put in the SMTP server box?
Thanks again.0 -
why not use your NTL smtp server? I assume it works with email at home (outlook or outlook express)? check your settings here. SMTP sometimes need authorising too, so check password etc. is ok0

Hi,
I started with the same settings as at home ie
pop.ntlworld.com
smtp.ntlworld.com
Checked and re-checked username P/W etc, still not able to send from 770. I then remembered that the settings on the pda are..
pop.ntlworld.com
smtp.o2.com
Tried smtp.t-mobile.co.uk (com) and many others, still unable to send emails.
Thanks0 -
did you check the ADVANCED section on the N770 at the end of the email setup? Here it asks about smtp authentication etc. In OUTGOING tab, you need to make sure the username and password are used, if smtp authentication is used (which it usually is!)0

Yes, checked that. I get a message when trying to send....
"Unable to connect to SMTP server etc etc.

2G cards seem a bit hard to get right now. i got one earlier from Mymemory.com for around £18 (MMC Mobile which is apparently a bit faster than RSMMC) but I don't know if they still have them. For streaming then i would recommend that you use Orb.com which will only need installing on your PC (laptop) and then you can access your media using the web browser on your Nokia without the need to install anything there. The advantages is that Orb can encode your videos on the fly to real format playable on the nokia, you can access all the files and folders on your PC and you can access your media remotely from any where with internet access and not only from your router. This is in addition to the fact that it is EXTREMELY easy to use.0

Works with any compatible BT keyboard and or Sat Nav, install and REBOOT and a new BT Icon appears in the top right of the screen next to Wifi, Battery, Volume.
The first time you use it you need to pair the devices. It was odd as you must get the Nokia searching for BT devices and then unpair the Laser keyboard Fn+Shift+B (for >3 seconds) and the blue light will start to flash (the unit does this out of the box but if you have paired it with another device like a phone and want to use it with the Nokia N770. On the N770 side you get options for other languages I selected the "default" keyboard option and it all works fine. The "/" key is on the far right of the laser KB! Important if you want to use Xterm shell access.
Anyway all works fine.
I love the laser keyboard, small, light works fine in most situations on the go. Ideal for use in a hotel or airport lounge when you don't have a laptop.
I wanted to try a physical BT Keyboard as I type a lot (remember there is a range of *Nix editors like Joe, Emac, etc for the N770 and a several GUI editors for text all free)
One thing I realised is that for document editing control keys are important as I did not want to use the sylus to select or cut / paste text. With terminal editors this is not a problem so.... I've ordered another BT Keyboard from Expansys this is the iGo foldable one it is branded Dell and is £3o odd, use the £10 off £20 orders sent with your N770 also on Hotdeals. To find the keyboard search under keyboards and then BT. The Expansys search did not show it. The iGo is £70 odd and the Nokia BT Keyboard is that kind of price.
So I spend £80 on the N700 and £30 on the laser keyboard and £40 on the mechanical BT keyboard. The accessories cost as much as the device
Hi Seth,
Thanks for the info, finally got the Laser Keyboard working with the N770, it took quite a few attempts to discover the VKB, (had to turn off the VKB several times and do the FN, Shift, B thing repeatedly) and finally figured out that the passcode entered on the N770 also had to be tapped into the Laser Keyboard before it would pair properly. Works fine now!
But Interestingly enough I also bought a Smart Foldable BT Keyboard from Add Ons World which works fine with all my other BT devices, N80, N95, R2H, Laptops, but the N770 will not discover it. Will be interested to hear of other people's experiences of the foldable BT keyboards.0
