Wireless Internet Tablet Less than £74

This is a cracking buy. Nokia have brought out - not a phone - but an Internet tablet which works through your wireless network (or public network). It includes support for video and internet radio and will display webpages in full width screen all in a very compact package. These units were over £300 when they came out - model NOKIA 770. Unusually they are Linux based and therefore there is tons of support out there. It can also be combined with a bluetooth GPS system etc. etc.
Expansys are selling these off at a crazy £74, go to the menu bar at the top and hit Top 20 you will also find it at £77 with 1 GB card - amazing value. A Linux expert tells me that they cost more than this to make.
There is of course a new model coming out hence shifting these but it certainly is a very convienient way to take the net with you in your pocket.
It includes the Opera browser and E-mail client. Updates are available on the net to flash the memory so a 2 gig card can be added.
Hope someone finds this useful!!!

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has bought this, either from this link or just owns one. It looks really good and reading the reviews it has a lot of functionality and software available to it with updates being made available as necessary.0

Hang on there's a free phone with it as well!
HP iPAQ 514 + Anytime 500 + Nokia 770
The add rambles about there being a 35 quid per month Vodafone contract involved as well though (not a bad min+txt deal), but how they enforce that one, I don't know.... I mean there's no DD agreement and you can even pay by cheque/BACS or paypal, if you don't want them getting any idea of an C/A....
Perhaps the phone is by voucher after you get a DD sign up pack for Vodafone... Doesn't seem the type of thing Expansys would get involved with though..
Me thinks a phone call is in order about this....
Why is this device so cheap though. Last years model? No software available?
This is the open source site, from the Nokia demo movie.... maemo.org
It does say that it will take up to 1Gb. I don't know what size the mini cards go up to though. Perhaps the spec was written when 1Gb was the max... What would happen if you did ram a bigger one in though. It wouldn't be recognised?
Is this thing any good.... I mean hell could you even load openoffice on it from a card?
Mmmm, intrigued and bemused....0 -
I've got one, really like it. Ideal for traveling. Recommended.0

Easy star! I didn't think I was........
My last comment was more rhetorical than anything else.......
If you think that's asking, then have a look at some of the other, personal finance boards.............
Other than a massive screen (I'm not knocking that either), it's a luxury version of a WifI enabled phone. In fact the HP iPAQ 514 that you can get bundled with it. That does the same and you get Office with it and push email.
However the phone's screen is obviously the crippling factor, it's too small to use, whereas this is big enough to use, but doesn't have the capabilties....
Right, off I trot then...........0 -
bin umming and rrring over this...finaly thought i'd have a punt! good screen size and 800x480(ish) resolution swung it for me. Anyone know what SAT NAV system it can use? TOMTOM?0
