Just raised a query with Expansys as they have been posting 7 day delivery for ages now. They have e-mailed me as follows:-
Many thanks for placing your order with Expansys,
Unfortunately due to the substantial amount of orders we are recieving for this item, stock is taking longer to get hold of and stock is now due in on 10th August
Please advise how you wish to proceed.
Looks like a long wait ... unless anyone knows better?

Also waiting for Expansys, they have taken my money though.
Anyone know the main differences between this and the new version (n800)??0 -
If someone could post if they get delivery (or confirmation that stock has arrived even) that would be a great help. Thanks.0

Thanks
The 770 supports using a phone as a bluetooth modem, if your phone supports it. Nokia tech support will only help you if you're using a Nokia phone, though.
The normal web'n'walk does not allow you to use your phone as a modem, although you might get away with it for a while. If you get caught, they'll cut off your internet access, or tell you to upgrade to wnw Plus, which allows modem use (and things like IM - basically anything apart from VoIP).0 -

Thanks for that, I have used the N95 and web and walk with a laptop. Just interested to know how they might find out that the web and walk was being used in this way.
When using this (770 or 800) using a mobile, do you get the full website as you would at home or the crap cut down version you get on a mobile???
Also, still have`nt managed to find out what the differences are between the 770 and 800 (apart from the price).0 -

The 770 has OS2006 and the N800 OS2007. Certain things like later versions of Flash video aren't supported on the 770, for example, you can't watch youtube or Google videos on the 770. Also, the N800 is faster and has more memory.0 -

They can look at your usage patterns and stuff - and keep in mind that if you're using IM (AOL, MSN, Yahoo, whatever) then it's really, really easy for them to spot that! You also only get 1GB a month usage on the basic package - although unless you're using it all the time with a good 3G signal, it's nearly impossible to reach that. I've been using my phone as a modem for the last two weeks until my broadband went live on Friday, and I was nowhere near even the basic limit - mostly because I only got a crap GSM signal in my new house.
The browser on the Internet Tablets is kind of half-way between Opera Mobile and Opera PC. It's a limited amount of screen space, and it's not Internet Explorer. It's not going to be the same as using IE on a Windows PC, although everyone seems to expect that from things like this - and even phones. Don't expect it to replace your computer - expect it to supplement it. I've used the browser on both the 770 and the N800 and it's quite usable - but some sites require IE, or require Windows-only plug-ins, and there's nothing you can do about that.
FWIW, I'm a Mac user, so I'm used to dealing with that sort of stuff anyway. I just avoid sites that need stuff like that - they should know better anyway.
IIRC, it supports Flash, but might not support FLV (Flash Video) so YouTube might/might not work. The up-side is that because it's Linux-based, it's entirely possible that someone could port an FLV player to it - and might already have done. Check out Maemo.org - that's the main open source site for the Internet Tablet OS.
There's no difference in the browser on the 770/N800 if you use it with wifi or with a phone - all the browser cares about is if it's got an internet connection, not how you're connected.
The N800 is newer and shinier. It's got better memory card support (has two slots for standard SD cards, instead of one slot for reduced-size MMC) and has a little pop-out camera for video chat, which is actually kind of cool. The OS on the N800 also gets official updates from Nokia, but the 770 doesn't. There was an update the other week, bringing it to OS 2007.
Personally, I think that the N800 has a better physical design too - it feels much nicer to hold in the hands, and it has a little flip-out stand which makes it much nicer to use on a desk/table. It's a definite improvement over the original 770.
I was really tempted to get a 770 from Expansys, but the missus vetoed it. I'd rather wait until the N800 drops to that price anyway, which - like all electronics - it will do, eventually!0
