Hey you know there will always be a few moaners whatever you say

I for one am chuffed to bits with this bit of info and will be over to give you a big kiss in August (dad lives in Penn) :j

Daft old bat yesterday said "oh I can't take all these!! - only one coupon if you haven't bought the product" - so I dug out the DM £4 of course ;)

I even went to CS to ask what the policy was and she said the same

I've become a little more hardened to the knockbacks now but it would be sooooo nice to have a definate all round policy - keeping my fingers crossed

Well I think you must be further south than Stafford then. Stafford Tesco is dreadful. The one coupon per transaction rule is stuck to rigidly by every till person, even the students, weekdays or weekends.

hehe im in the midlands! I wish people would stop saying " oh my tesco will be different from that" because this is a new company policy, not a store policy, each shop has to adhere to the same coupon rules. Fair enough sometimes the till will say " the customer has not bought this item" and then we can't accept the coupon but for all the other coupons we'll happily put them through whether you've bought it or not. If the cashier serving you starts being funny about your coupons just ask them to call a supervisor to double check the policy and there should be no problem. I'm only trying to help here!

They might have a new policy but as with R&R the stores will not like it. Today I was given the 'only if you buy the product' response fronm the till op. I mentioned the new coupon policy, she pressed the buzzer and over came the supervisor. The policy is that you can only use coupons for items bought and we don't take your own printed ones at all (mine were from coupon net). Didn't want to push it as always find it better to fight another day, had to pay in hard cash. May improve but I doubt it will ever be plain sailing.

This is not a new policy - at least not at my store. There was recently a training refresher on coupons, so this is probably what you got.

Paul Carter: I agree with not kicking up a fuss at the till - only holds other people up! If you are refused like that, you should go over to customer services and leave a complaint. Dont just shout that you were refused at them, because they will probably just repeat the wrong policy. Ask to leave a complaint and make sure it all gets logged (cashier number, etc). No need to be rude, just explain what happened and that you think that wasnt tescos policy. These complaints do get passed up the chain (probably to duty manager) so they should check it out.

If all you have is internet ones then you may still struggle, but its worth getting the "only items bought" policy fixed.

How many people know you can also go to customer services and leave a positive comment on anyone who has provided good service?

well I tried today, thought it best I just go for a small shop = £20 handed over £20 ish of coups, TA said I can only take 10%, I said my sister works there and they had been told that you could basically use coupons for all of your shop, TA said that the memo that came from host said that this policy would be at the stores discretion! Ah well!

Sorry but can someone explain how they can reasonably refuse these self-printed internet coupons if you are buying the product and thus meeting the terms of the promotion? I might expect it at the corner shop but not at Tesco?!

I DID THIS! Not for the grump today, but for a lovely shelf stacker who came to me at the tills as I was paying with an item I had asked about 10mins previous! That was good service, I thought she'd have just shot off after she couldn't find what I asked about!

Sorry I am a little off-topic here but something Welshy typed really tickled me....

I am a voucher user, been using them every week for nearly 2 years BUT the key is to be sensible.

It sounds like we've stumbled into an AA Meeting (not that I;d know what one of those is like  ) but instead of alcohol we are all instead admitting out loud our sad tesco shopping addition....I think at this point it's my turn to stand up at this point and say that " Hi my name is Mark and I've also been a user and abuser of tesco vouchers for over a year now but am trying very hard to kick the habit as it's damaging my relationship and costing my family a fortune...it's getting me in trouble too and sometimes the security officers follow me round the store in case I am tempted to slip back into abusing my habit ;) "

I think this admission officially makes me a member of the ' The Addicted Raiders of Tesco Shops' club or TARTS for short...:D

Anyone else want to join!? :rotfl:
