Why should I have children???
Comments
-
I do know a few people who regretted having children actually.
One is a very elderly lady who lives down the road from my parents. Both her husband and daughter are dead now sadly, but it's only recently she has started to talk about her regret at being forced into having her daughter when she didn't want to. Of course this was a very different time.
I also know a few people who have had three kids, who have admitted they would have stopped at two if they had realised how hard three would be. I don't think there's anything wrong with this view, it is after all borne from experience. It might be anathema to some, but it would be a boring world if we all held the same opinions.
Most people do things in their lives that they regret. I am sure there are people who chose to be childfree but now regret it although I am not one of them. I know couples who had children without really thinking about how it would change their life and without talking to each other about it first. I know a few women who had children because their husband wanted them although they didn't and most of them regret their decision. I also know 2 women who supposedly got pregnant accidentally (one twice) when they were desperate to get married. They are both still married and whilst one seems happy with her husband and children the other doesn't. She only ever moans about her children and, although not cruel to them, she certainly doesn't really show them any love. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Never had kids, I'm 50yrs old and have never changed my mind since I knew at age 14yrs, they just were not for me. Maternal towards animals, but not kids.
I have a friend who is a 'dog' person, and is convinced that everybody is a dog lover deep down, and they just need convincing what they are missing out on.
I wouldn't want any harm to come to a dog, and felt fond of the family dogs as I was growing up, but I feel absolutely no urge to own one and will lead a full and happy life without one, despite her feeling that I don't know what I'm missing out on.I used to be an axolotl0 -

I'm not a dog person either...they are just as needy as kids.
I am a cat person though, kinda like their casual laid back attitude to life and you can go out for the day without social services turning up on your doorstep:rotfl:0 -
I like dogs, and always has one as a child/teen, but now I would find them a dreadful tie.
Also, I think they are a bit of a needy and clingy pet. Cats are much easier to look after.
Each to their own.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

This is how I feel when someone tries to tell me I should have children :rotfl:

Children are, in my opinion, only something which people choose to have if their hormones are running rampant and they don't have time to clearly think about it.
I can't think of anything worse. It's like a debt you're paying for the rest of your life that craps on your hand and draws on your walls.
OP should tell OH she is getting sterilized, even if she's not, and see if he still wants her then.I can't add up.0
