Got home earlier tonight from overnight visit to parents, with DS and DD.
Made them very happy. Helped hoover house, strip and make beds, shopping trip butchers, grocers and supermarket to stock up, usual mail sorting and brought back letters that need attention - e.g. book their annual boiler service.

Hope weather good tomorrow so can do second cut on lawn. Am trying to persuade DS to take on mowing as "job" to earn pocket money to save up for a newer ipod or tablet.

Just picked up DD from seeing friends tonight after we got back. She goes back to uni tomorrow:(

    Sweet dreams everyone

Just got back from dropping DD back at uni. Home feeling a bit empty again. A couple of days before school starts, and work will pick up again. DH has been working flat out and also very tired. He desperately needs a holiday this year so not sure whether to bite the bullet and just book something now so at least we can put aside for it. Trouble is I am always reluctant to book too much in advance and we all want different things from our holidays now - kids just want wifi access and they're happy, I want to be out and about and discovering new places, OH would be happy to sleep by the pool. So the only person that actually needs to be away from home is me - sleeping (cheapest at home) wifi access (cheapest at home)!!

VAT returns looming again in 3 weeks - should try and get them done before my scheduled work starts in earnest in May.

Question: How did you teach teens about the value of money? Sometimes I feel my son thinks we have a golden goose. Tried to explain to hm its called "work" "determination" "perseverance" "compromise" "sacrifice":(

Thank you Granny - hope you have a lovely day to (evening now I guess!).

Can never work out if spell-check is a blessing or not.

my 'Kind Regards' got auto corrected to kind "retards" because I mis-typed the 'g' as a 'd'. Don't think client would have been too impressed. Luckily I spotted it whilst putting letter in the envelope:o

Am very pleased with DS today - we had a long chat last night and he may just have taken one or tow things on board. Over the last three days he has done an hours mowing each day and the lawn is almost under control:) It is hard work as we can't afford a new sit on - the old one was going to cost £400+ to repair:( I have promised to pay him £10 a week if he does the lawn each week. Let's see how it goes.

Most of the to do list done except for calls to SC and HS*BC. Have to leave shortly for DS hair cut.
Didn't finish kitchen but did about an hour outside. rescued some mint from wild overgrown bed and potted up so can have it on the patio. Weeded a 2x 4 foot square flower bed:), home to a beautiful climbing rose a close friend gave me when I looked after her DD when she was in hospital about 18 months ago. Resolved to make time to have them over for a meal soon as have neglected to keep in touch.

Got an email from a company I registered with for research participation. Would have been £40 for an hours evaluation of website for a local company (my profile matched their needs) but I can't do it because I am working at school that morning and there is no flexibility in timings:(

Just got wage slip from the marking work and was filing it when noticed that I have earned an extra 3K gross since October :T not bad for a part time 2nd job methinks. It has kept us afloat and not sliding backwards, even if we haven't moved forward much in terms of reducing debt. This time last year I was in utter despair.
They have said I can work as much as I want over the summer - but have to decide if I want to leave DS alone for much of that time. Not too comfortable with it. He could do summer camp for rugby and other subjects as his school but as its not highly paid it would only just cover the cost of the camp. On the other hand, he would be doing something other than screen gaming (whether on pc, ps3 or ipod) so better for him. Decisions decisions. ....
