Busy bee. I love going to the garden centre for a drink but it is always so expensive. And depressing these days as I am in a 1st floor flat.. :( not even got a windowsill for a pot plant so I console myself with vases of £1 daft from him once a week at the moment. Isn't he sweet. People think I am weird because I add either lemonade or sugar, and a teeny bit of bleach... :rotfl: it stops the microbes and bacteria attacking the stems and making the water cloudy. Still crystal clear, and beautiful daffs that are 4 days old :D

P.S NOA I got my MiL a daffodil made by the stained glass lady! It isn't as lovely as the bluebells but it is still pretty and her favourite!

Have a lovely weekend. You are forgetting the most important person to look after tonight... YOU! xxx

    Hey Lilty,

I love going to the garden centre - it's expensive but I only go once every few weeks with this friend, it's someone who isn't demanding or competitive, or nosey, and just genuinely NICE.
It cost £1.60 for a pot of tea + £2.95 for a huge piece of fresh fruit cheesecake but I felt a whole load better. I actually hardly ever spend any money on me, and its cheaper than lunch out! When I was working I always had fresh flowers in the house - love them but that's a luxury I have given up but I do have the garden so am so so lucky. I add lemonade! it works and is not weird at all - haven't tried bleach though .... Lucky MiL - am sure she will love the stained glass daffs... after your posts I looked up some stained glass stuff - may treat me at some point when we have some spare money - I have collected glass things since forever - don't have much but try to buy a small thing whenever we travelled.

Above was typed in word 10 days ago!!!!!! have been working and not been able to keep up with MSE. will catch up later tonight as have a couple of days to myself now.

I dreaded that redundant feeling - DD1 went to University and stayed there - always knew she would. Her room is still here pretty much how it was and obviously she comes home on visits. She will always have a home here and she knows that:) DD2 now very independent and spends time with friends and time away from home and it really worried me tat I too would become 'redundant' but I am now beginning to to realise I will have a bit more freedom back to do things I want to do without it being curtailed because I have to get back to run the taxi service or indeed I can spend time doing things without a bit of nagging guilt - the garden springs to mind! Our recent trip away was a real eye-opener to me - we where grown ups again:rotfl:

A trip out as a pick me up is always good and the plug plants will survive and remind you of your friend:) I am off out today for a posh afternoon tea with some friends. Cant really justify expense it but one of us is going through the mill at the moment and we always rally round with cake. Its a favourite haunt and we have loyalty cards so some expense will be off set but I will no doubt spend some money in their fab foodie outlet. The overall effect will be pleasent........just like your plants

I have just forked out £500 for car repairs :( But instead of paying on CC I bit the bullet and it went on current account which will bump up the OD but I have been able to build up a little 'buffer fund' this last 12 months - just small amounts put away here and there so if I have to I will dip into it but the plan is to be uber fugal and not have to ....fingers crossed.

    3 days work - fab:j

I hate this debt free journey sometimes

    Hi Igamogam,
A long overdue reply - have been busy with work.
I hope you enjoyed your posh tea with friends! Cake is a good (actually the best) rally- er! Hope you bought some lovely treats in the Foodie bit.
I hate this journey too, but have to remind myself that there are millions of others so very much worse off, and I try to remember to be thankful every day. SO I have had my wallow for a few days, and work helped as you have to focus on other things/problems/solutions which have short term fixes and its very satisfying.
Car expenses are painful aren't they? but a necessary spend. My service turned out to be quite reasonable (£290) but there is an intermittent fault which they couldn't find - it's still happening - which could be expensive if its the gearbox (possibility as it doesn't pick up speed at certain speeds), plus 2 tyres need to be replaced in 6-8 weeks

I wish I could look forward to adult time. we have reached a comfortable place in recent weeks but its mostly with me just doing my own thing. I have become very intolerant as I got older:o and am finding it difficult to enjoy time with DH. We are total opposites and having put up with so much flippancy through the years, I no longer find it funny. Can't ever have a serious conversation without the silly comments, so generally don't bother. Quite a lonely place to be. Hence the dread! Am sure everything will work out - it always does. :)

Have to be out and about now - sun is shining and 3/4 of my plug plants are still clinging on in the hope of more generous supply of soil and up-sizing. :rotfl:

Glad the car bill was lower than you thought but annoying they couldn't solve the other problem

I struggled when DS left home, empty nest and the thought of a life with just OH for company filled me with dread. He's either flippant or Grumpy most of the time but we muddle along ok. This time away from him has made him realise how much he relies on me and he's missing me loads. In the 3 weeks I've been gone we've only had one mini disagreement and that's because I messed up the Bank holiday dates, so he booked the wrong week off at work. I refuse to be blamed for it though and told him it should have been sorted before I left. So I totally get where you are coming from about dreading that time but hopefully things will be better than you think when he has to rely on just you for home chat x

Lots of love, hugs and sunny upside down well wishes

    Hello NOAh,

Spring is on its way which is an important plus for a spiritual lady. You will feel much happier shortly.

Empty nesting wouldn't affect a man the same (fact) but this nest is always full of noisy annoying birdies :) There are millions just like you though.

As a man a lot of women mainly wouldn't say to me that they have nothing to say to their spouse and men just don't talk to each other about those sort of things but I hear from the missus relayed conversations that in this wider family all of the ladies feel just the way you do :(

In this house there is so much noise and hassle that nobody ever has time to reflect on how they feel - is that a good thing? Dunno.

You have made me think though.......I am flippant and perhaps I should think about that. I try not to be grumpy but inevitably when irritated it happens. I like a clear mind, space and peace and would love to have more time to be a bit more 'spiritual' too :)

By the way.......we don't see you on here as much as we'd all like :)

Hello Granny! :j:j:j (I wish I knew how to invert these smilies to upside down star jumps....am still doing a few day whenever I remember;)),

Absence (or is it distance? probably both!) makes the Heart grow fonder..... How lovely that OH is missing you, he will spoil you rotten when you get home.
I am sure we will muddle through, I'm intolerant about his behaviours but it doesn't mean I don't love him underneath it all, basically he is a nice person. I haven't manage to change him in ..... it will be 30 years this year:eek::eek::eek: but he hasn't managed to change me either!!!! The really hilarious thing is that if I am flippant or make silly comments he really doesn't like it!!!!!! and then gets all huffy and grumpy if I say I'm only being like him ;) He also doesn't like it if DS behaves like him and I point out that he's only doing what he sees his dad doing, and gets those traits from his dad's side rather then mine;).
    "practice what you preach" heh?:rotfl:

Hope you are continuing to have a lovely time. When you come back you will be a superfit, golden bronzed, totally laid back Granny, Crocodile Dundee comes to mind!

Love n' hugs, a cold bright breezy sunny day here, will be off outside again soon:T

    Hello Brogden!
Spring is wonderful - I love the days getting longer and brighter. Maybe I should rush to Stonehenge and do some sun worship or something to consolidate my spirituality!
Noise is great when you are with people you love - but not if its hassle;)...and you need both noise and chaos, and time to reflect... there is a lot about "mindfulness" these days as a way of meditating.
My "spirituality" is all a bit mixed up and has crept up on me as I got older - and different things start to matter - haven't consciously made "time" for it, but "clear mind space and peace" is what I'm aiming for too, and I find that when I am outside it happens.

Yesterday I went out with my loppers (though I should have been planting dying plug plants!) and pottered around lopping to my hearts content. Left huge piles of lopped stuff everywhere. Wish I could afford to pay someone to follow me around and pick up the loppings:(. I spent 3 hours going from shrub to shrub just lopping. and in that time I didn't think about anything but deciding which bit to lop. Isn't lopping a nice word?! Nicer than debt-ing anyway.

Re Flippancy - glad it made you think BUT I don't think we'd want to change you Brogden! there's a time and place for everything - that's the issue I have with DH! Diplomacy and thinking about how someone else might be feeling are not his strong points, but I'm the other extreme, often to my own detriment. Somewhere in the middle is the right place to be.

Lovely of you to want to see more of me here:o Haven't been posting much as working on not wallowing by working, and felt I had to go to see my parents again this weekend.

Hope that's enough spiritual guru stuff for today? ;):D
