must be a day of D'OH moments, earlier I was trying to have a shave but with the plastic cover still on the razor and wondering why it wasn't working very well- on a mission to be debt-free by the end of 2017 -

The tap always freezes in winter and needs fixing in spring even if lagged. The joint between pipe from ground and the new "easy even for me" lever on/off for mains water which was meant to stop winter freeze problems had frozen and shifted, so it was mains pressure water in my face when I pushed the lever to turn water on - hadn't even turned the tap yet....
I should have checked it first before embarking on mission. How silly would I look getting a stepladder out for washing the car! Besides , it wobbles a lot on shingle, not that I have tried of course;). Waterproofs I have too - but theoretically, I shouldn't have got wet! Had my sexy wellies on though;) so my feet stayed dry!

Very Pleased with myself. All the nagging I do does pay off! Have badgered DH and DS constantly about switching off lights and not leaving things on standby, phones charging overnight etc etc.
Just submitted meter reading for electricity and Direct Debit is going down from £85 to £66/pm:). Bill shows usage has gone down 20% from same period last year:). A chunk will be due to DD not being on her laptop/social media 24/7;) but still.... every penny counts:D
Am also happy that DH has succumbed and has picked up DS from school one evening this week

Feeling very redundant today:(
DS going straight to friend's after school for sleepover tonight, will pick him tomorrow 10.30 am, bring home for shower and hour or two of sleep before Rugby match in the pm. So No one to have to cook for (DH doesn't count:p). Quite disconcerting. Dread time when DS leaves home too.
Have done nothing today - brain does not work, could not sleep last night lay awake from about 2.30am, even read for a bit but sleep very elusive. Couldn't focus on work so called a friend and we went out for a coffee to garden centre, spent £18 on plug plants and a packet of sweet pea seeds to plant. Extra spend I shouldn't have done, as probably won't have time to plant them up in the next week or two.
Waiting to hear how many pounds poorer I'll be today - major car service today. I need to pull my finger out and get DH car advertised for selling - will probably only get 1000 -1200 for it as 161K on clock. Need to wash it first!
Got 3 days work from school for next week, which tied in perfectly with marking work scheduled for Thursday/Fri next week.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Busy bee. I love going to the garden centre for a drink but it is always so expensive. And depressing these days as I am in a 1st floor flat..
not even got a windowsill for a pot plant so I console myself with vases of £1 daft from him once a week at the moment. Isn't he sweet. People think I am weird because I add either lemonade or sugar, and a teeny bit of bleach... :rotfl: it stops the microbes and bacteria attacking the stems and making the water cloudy. Still crystal clear, and beautiful daffs that are 4 days old
P.S NOA I got my MiL a daffodil made by the stained glass lady! It isn't as lovely as the bluebells but it is still pretty and her favourite!
Have a lovely weekend. You are forgetting the most important person to look after tonight... YOU! xxx

I dreaded that redundant feeling - DD1 went to University and stayed there - always knew she would. Her room is still here pretty much how it was and obviously she comes home on visits. She will always have a home here and she knows that:) DD2 now very independent and spends time with friends and time away from home and it really worried me tat I too would become 'redundant' but I am now beginning to to realise I will have a bit more freedom back to do things I want to do without it being curtailed because I have to get back to run the taxi service or indeed I can spend time doing things without a bit of nagging guilt - the garden springs to mind! Our recent trip away was a real eye-opener to me - we where grown ups again:rotfl:
A trip out as a pick me up is always good and the plug plants will survive and remind you of your friend:) I am off out today for a posh afternoon tea with some friends. Cant really justify expense it but one of us is going through the mill at the moment and we always rally round with cake. Its a favourite haunt and we have loyalty cards so some expense will be off set but I will no doubt spend some money in their fab foodie outlet. The overall effect will be pleasent........just like your plants
I have just forked out £500 for car repairsBut instead of paying on CC I bit the bullet and it went on current account which will bump up the OD but I have been able to build up a little 'buffer fund' this last 12 months - just small amounts put away here and there so if I have to I will dip into it but the plan is to be uber fugal and not have to ....fingers crossed.
3 days work - fab:j
