    Yours, if you have some?
Of all the plants and weeds in my garden I do not have any woad:(

Plants have feelings too (remember reading some research somewhere that they grow better/have more roots when played classical music as compared to heavy rock music!) - I look upon lopping as a haircut which is beneficial to said shrub (I hate it when DH sets to them with hedge trimmer and gives them straight line pudding bowl fringes).

I will look out for woad seeds when next at garden centre so we can use organic home grown next year!:rotfl:

Has warmed up nicely outside now, so having made urgent phone calls for today, am lopping off. oops. logging off even:D

Thank you Verbatim:) Nice to see you this lovely spring day:)
Am in for a quick break as main mission accomplished....

washed pots and trays and then 20 geranium/20 petunia/20 lobelia plugs all rescued and potted up though a few of each are unlikely to survive due to lack of water and nutrients last couple of weeks:(. Still happy though because as long as slugs don't get into green house (which they frequently do) I should have enough for about 8-10 hanging basket/patio tubs:). Also Planted sweet pea seeds:) and taken some cuttings from the rose I just pruned.
Haven't picked up yesterday's loppings yet - that's the boring bit.

School trip meeting tonight at 6 thirty so said would treat DS to a burger out at 5 Guys. I'll have some of his chips - the portions are huge. He's feeling hard done by as DD is visiting a friend in Edinburgh for a few days. She has just phone to say she has visited the caf! where JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter!
Journey cost her £70 but she has some work at Easter where she'll earn £240.

    Off out again ....

My thought for today, courtesy of the talented Mr Wordsworth.
Visited Ullswater in the Lake District a few years ago, it was a beautiful sunny day in summer so no daffodils. Love this spring poem it makes me :j NOAh xx

    I wander'd lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
    A host of golden daffodils,
Beside the lake, beneath the trees
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
    They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: -
A poet could not but be gay
    In such a jocund company!
I gazed - and gazed - but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought.

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
    Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills
    And dances with the daffodils.

Thank you for the poem! Just posted it to my mum. Nice to read something I loved a while back. I can't have read it since my days reading English Lit! Lovely lovely poem.

You've been a busy little bee!! I love lopping too! And despair of my dad and his hedge trimmer bowl cuts! As does my mum who is much like you. You remind me of her a lot in your gardening.. ;) I adore mowing the lawn. The bigger the better. :rotfl: my dad would never let me as a Kid. He said I would cut the cable up. So one day when he was at work when I was 14 or so, I got it out and mowed the lawn. I was 2/3 of the way through the second lawn when I ran over the cable. - shredded it! Lucky it had a cut out really. I went running like a frightened rabbit to my best friends house over the road and explained to her dad. He for some reason had 3 lawn mowers, and gave me the exact same cable to replace it. I tidied the mess and gave the shredded cable to her dad.. Mine never knew until I told him a couple of years ago. And he said... you know, I thought the bl00dy cable seemed really clean when I got home! :rotfl: - it was brand new compared to our older one. Have never run over it again though ;)

Lovely to see you posting frequently. Sorry I haven't been around and thank you for popping in.

    Lots of love!!! xxx

Hi Lilty - I hope your mum enjoys reading it too, it's always been one of my favourites and I di English lit errrrr....way to many to mention years ago! WW knew about visualising happy moments long before it became popular! I have it on my desk printed on a really pretty postcard. Sending hugs with the poem too.

Your story made me :rotfl: and reminded me of the very first time I took out dad's car by myself after passing my test. Parked in a car park and was so busy taking care not the hit the back into anything as I reversed out of the space that I forgot to watch the front and dented the front bumper on the 2foot square pillar:o:eek: I went to two garages asking if they could straighten it out..... in my naivety not knowing it would cost lots and take time. So I had to go home. Dad was in the garden and I got my sister to go and tell him. I was so nervous I couldn't stop laughing (nervously). Because I was laughing he thought we were joking and wouldn't go and look! It cost £120 to repair ( a lot of money in them days ;)). I have never done that again either! He didn't shout at me though:)

Have got 30 mins as DH offered to go get DD from station.:) DS home a bit battered from rugby as ground was really hard - much better to play in soft mud apparently! This weekend will be lovely will be with both kids and parents at the same time:)

Didin't have time to bake so went to W*trose and got a selection of yummy cakes to take for tomorrow.
Didn't get called out so get £20 for doing nothing for part time fun job:rotfl:but DS had treat and went with his friend to 5G+uys burger and had lunch before Rugby (£15), didn't mind as he has been very good recently.

Have to pack quickly now...hope you are enjoying your weekend ...daren't pop over as will get engrossed but saw very briefly you have your job so WELL DONE YOU :T:T No one deserves it more.

Love Wordsworth's Daffodils - as child/teen I sang in a very successful childrens choir and this poem set to music was in our repertoire I can still sing it now - well hum to myself ! The phrase 'In jocund company' was my favourite line....dont know why just the word 'jocund' I think :) The Lake District is the stamping ground of my youth. Conjured up some very happy memories. My second favourite place in the world I would choose to live.

Spring here reveals itself slowly - hard frost last night meant a cold but sparkly start. Mountains are still covered in snow and this evening all pink and sugar frosted with the setting sun. Busy with house stuff at moment so no time in garden - snowdrops now well and truly over and somehow I have missed the crocus with work commitments getting in the way meaning early starts and late finishes - don think I saw daylight for 3 weeks! Making up with plenty of daffodils and the hedge bottoms, dry stone walls and lawns are polka dotted with yellow primrose. Cant wait for Easter hols so I can get out there properly:)
