  • Hi NOA and team!

I've just read through all 22 pages. Wow, what an amazing couple of months. I've got to say I really admire your mindset.

    Here's my two-penneth worth -
    • Have you considered Mystery Shopping to earn some extra cash?
    • I know you've mentioned ebay, but could you approach it more ruthlessly / strategically? We were shocked by how much we made by selling our crap (I mean treasure, of course) For example, we sold an old Sonic the Hedgehog single duvet cover for £33! People will buy the strangest things
    • Have you registered on any cashback sites yet? Well worth it for things like insurance renewals, phone contracts and Christmas!
    • How much effort is DD putting into getting a job? And I mean any job, not just one that she would like to do? Places like McDonalds, Greggs, Weatherspoons, always have vacancies. She could get one of these to tide her over until something she wants, like Student Ambassador, comes along.

I'm truly sorry about your friend, it is a hard reminder of the fragility of life to lose someone before their time. Keep strong.

    Good luck

Morning All. Hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
It is lovely and sunny here. Temptation is to potter outside but I have decided that Today is about getting back in control. Then I will treat myself to a couple of hours of reading diaries tonight :)

Am home alone so am going to keep busy, and get boring this done so when DD home later this week we can have time to do things together doing nice things either side of Friday.

Here goes..To Do List. This page is the Universe so I am putting it out there, and it will be done.

    1. Write up quotes/send to 2 clients.
    2. Send invoices (2 clients)
    3. Companies house return for dormant company..................3/10 DONE :)

    4. New Direct debit to fill out for NI for DH and Me....Couldn't find form...seems like changes afoot and will need to pay class 2 NI through SA next year, or so website says... Left for another day to follow up - maybe will just pay by SO for a few months.
    5. Email to weekend's event to ask for photos for website
    6. Set up online account on behalf of parents to reduce their fuel bill - they are being ripped off on standard tariff (took readings when I was there on Saturday). Did this for mum and Dad and it left me fuming. they are wait for it....£750 in credit and have been paying £48 a month over what they needed to - all based on estimated readings - no one has been out to take a meter reading in 2 years. I hate the energy companies with a Vengeance. Took 2 phone calls - first woman totally unhelpful - second guy changed to online lowest tariff for me but wouldn't arrange refund as Dad not here with to to give authorisation- will have to do that when I am next with them.
    7. Complete paperwork for temp cover last week (only just received it but pay has gone up from 9.4o something to £9.65:))
    8. Update voluntary work spreadsheet (sales data to enter) and email summary. Not done, must do tomorrow
    9. Clean kitchen/ floor ..Dishwasher unloaded/loaded, washing up done, recycling sorted. Floor not cleaned - but life's too short, it will only get dirty again tonight!
    10. Then Eat Mars Bar. .......ACHIEVED:D

    NOA
xx.............................................................5/10 DONE HalfWay to MARS :j
:T OK so goals not all achieved bit did an extra and changed DD payment day for mortgage so that funds stay in account longer to earn Club Llloyds interest rather than go out day after payday, so I think I earned my Mars Bar.:p

Your amazing luck/universe conspiring made me cry!! I LOVE it that something good happened that was perfect for you! Even more so that you got paid mileage to go and see your parents when you really needed them, and earned money in your fun job.

Trip to parents was great. Mum perked up hugely whilst we were there but then went downhill afterwards and had to cancel her op, due on Nov 5th as she had a stinking cold and shingles. SO it is rebooked for 8th December, which means she will pop down here before them for a 'Christmas' trip. Silver linings. Spent way too much money, had 2 lovely meals out, saw my best friend who is due her first baby on Christmas Eve.

Other news is tax credits want £257.40 back from me for pre Him leaving in December 2013 so am paying back in installments x4. Consider yourself thoroughly caught up, the rest is just waffle, and if you have seen the pics then you've missed nothing interesting!! :D Thanks for the Jelly compliments. She melts my heart daily!

    Sleep tight! xx

Hi Lilt..it was just perfect. I am the luckiest girl. When I look back on my life, good things have always happened when I most need them. I never got back to writing the post I lost on your page but I will at some point maybe pm as it is very personal. Magic and miracles happen on a daily basis, we just don't always see them.
Have just spoken a few minutes ago to my mum and dad, called to tell them about my success with their energy bill and am now hurting because am not there with them - my mum went shopping and was waiting at a bus stop, when some tripped behind her and fell into her, knocking her over. She grazed her knee badly and her wrist on her arm with lymphedema is hurting as she tried to break her fall. She's 72 and full time carer for my dad. Am at an age where am torn between 2 generations, I need both and both need me, but its physically impossible to be in two places at once.

Sounds like your trip was lovely :)- So sorry your mum's op was cancelled and shingles can be nasty, hope she is feeling better now. Lovely that she will be able to visit you before her appointment on 8th, which will perk her up and make her strong just before the op. Hugs
    xx

Thanks Granny, Sorry to hear you suffer with it too :(
I called again late last night and this a.m. and luckily seems to be just bruises. No skin broken on hand (lymph nodes were all removed so she has to be really careful about infections through cuts on hands etc). Badly grazed knee but she feels OK. Lymphodema fairly well managed - she wears sleeve all the time - but sometimes she overdoes it (has ants in her pants and can't sit still - always has to be doing something!) and that's when it flares up.
Weeks are racing past- how many now to OZ? My DD home again tomorrow til Sunday. Will go to see Hunger Games with DD and DS:) and maybe to see Mum and Dad if we can squeeze a trip in.
    xx

    Granny x

I forward this to DD Granny. She has 4 teddies. "Pinkie" was given to her by my mum the day she was born and is her heart and soul. it is not just thread bare, it's body is more or less just threads - with a few tiny bits of stuffing hanging on for dear life. It was washed so many times, it started looking very poorly by the time she was 2. Mum bought her another one - same but in blue - to replace it. But DD refused to be parted with Pinkie so Blueie just joined the family, and was also loved to bits. Mum knitted a birthday suit for pinkie to try and hold her together, but it didn't feel the same so was never worn. Years later I had a little niece and nephew and I bought the same teddies for them, knowing how loved they would be. But my mum beat me to it and had bought the same ones. It was better that they kept mum's, So I didn't give them mine, I was just going to return them but my DD (aged 12) found them and adopted them Pinkie2 and Blueie2. They all had stuffing that was aching to be hugged, and it has been hugged constantly, till there's hardly any left, and continues to be :)
That might explain why your pics mean so much to me!

  • Financial Stuff Update

Lots going on....hard to keep up....
After very quiet summer for self employed business, bringing the debt to crisis level (spring summer usually busiest time), amount of work has spiked big time. Totally Unheard of in these few weeks leading up to Christmas (in our 12 years experience) when everything usually goes deathly quiet until late Jane/Feb.

10 projects in the pipeline - all but 2 confirmed, £8K all required within next 6-8 weeks with probs about £2K follow on work Feb-March. Putting tax aside should have min £6K, which should cover 3 months Bills and car services etc.

Missed Call from Marking job last week was another short contract for work but they had to give to someone else as they couldn't contact me (phone was off at school). But said they liked me and were really happy to have me on board - so seems likely will get more offers!

More school bank hours lined up for minimum one week possibly 2 in early January.

DH buzzing yesterday (hasn't done that in a long time!) as he was approached by agency for a job, went on interview yesterday and they seemed to really like him, possible new job offer, fingers crossed. May not be higher salary but has lots of benefits including car or allowance + private health. Waiting to hear.

Not only that, but DH just sent me an email with 2 x £10 off vouchers for a £40 shop in Waitr*se - said he thought it would be useful and worth looking at ?????*&*23!%%!!6^**((*£$!!!

Not quite sure what's going on....think he might be having an affair and trying to keep me happy? or has his LBM just crept up on him?

  • Awww NOA.

Don't think the worst of DH. I know you have a huge proven track history, but it is likely to be neither the former or latter options. By this I mean he probably hasn't hit his LBM. Maybe a mini one coming off the back of your own, but probably won't last ...so be ready for the anger when you won't spend half the 'extra' contract money on carp because it is likely that he will want some of it to play with and won't take it very well when you want to take some off the debt, or just keep some aside to cover leaner months.

I am sure it isn't an affair either. Maybe just a good mood springing from several things coming at once, and he knows what you are working towards so is passing on good cheer in a form that he knows you will like :) vouchers are cool! I love Waitrose but it is so shockingly expensive half the time.

Feel free to PM, or write on my diary. Whatever you wish to do and feel more comfortable with. And don't take up time you could be doing on something that benefits you ;)

Glad the universe is listening. Eat more Mars bars ;) then it will know you're thinking about it. :rotfl: xx
