  • SA returns: did DH's and paid. Did partnership ones too. Did mine and paid. Got email notification to say I had communication from hmrc last week, didn't check in m y busyness with life. £100 penalty for mine as apparently not submitted. I had done it all - and printed before submitting to check, then presumably I didn't actually press submit. I thought it was all done and dusted. Have sent in an appeal form today , though don't hold out much hope :(
small possibility they might consider, as do have a reason, though they might just say I was careless ....and why didn't I do it in the 6 months previous to Jan! Are there any sympathetic human people at hmrc?

The bad news is *probably not*.

I sympathise as I did similar years ago. Had left it to the last minute and completed it when at Heathrow waiting for a flight. Checked it (or so I thought) and put it in the envelope and posted it before I went through to Security / Departures.

Came back from seeing family to a £100 fine. Guess who'd forgotten to sign the bl**dy thing !

    Was not happy.

Good luck, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Hopefully the car will be kind to you and your pocket.

    Hi Noah,

Sorry to hear about the hmrc fine, I can't comment as I don't really have anything to do with them... One of my neighbours works for them and she's really nice... not much help to you...!!

Sounds like you have had a busy time with the foreign exchange, concerts etc.. Life is certainly busy. I hope your dd got back to uni okay and is feeling better...

Car's... Mine is in for repair as we speak.. the quote is £350 + vat... Luckily I do have the funds but as you know with old cars the next repair bill is only round the corner. ho hum.... first thing I will do when I have paid off my pesky debts is buy myself a decent car.. unfortunately that is so far off that I have a feeling I won't be able to keep patching up my little 15 year old car until then.. oh well cross that bridge when I come to it..

Keep smiling, spring is on its way...

    Love Puzz. x

Hi Noa, just popped in for a little catch up and got to the bit about your daughter's mouth ulcers. I suffered with them for a while and then after not having any for ages had at least three the other day.

Not quite sure what it was, but I had just bought some Mr Ts toothpaste (it was a sensitive one) as I couldn't see my usual brand on offer. When I suffered a lot previously I looked into mouth ulcers online and one of the ingredients in toothpaste is used in floor cleaning and similar products (I also remember I was using a sensitive teeth one back then too ). I suspect but don't know that some toothpaste's are stronger than others. I've gone back to my normal brand and all okay for now.

My dentist at the time told me I should lightly brush the ulcers to get rid of bacteria - not easy to do, and perhaps could disinfect toothbrush.

Also, I read that honey is very good at helping mouth ulcers. I think it is antibacterial and soothing.

Poor DD. Hope they are better soon. I do sympathise.

Hope all well with you too. X

Don't you just hate incompetence? Just opened mail and have a statement for business credit card for annual fee of £32. The account was closed by the bank themselves and balance transferred to the business Account OD after 6 months in arrears. Another letter to write:mad:

JustAboutThere Oh No! It's really frustrating. I am pretty certain I did press submit, but I know our broadband connection has pretty pretty awful recently, and I'm wondering if that's why. Kicking myself as I normally log back in and check.:o Did send in appeal form yesterday, as there has been other stuff going on, but not holding my breath. Thank you for popping by and posting:)

Puzz- Thanks for popping by :) Sorry to hear about you rcar bill - mine will be at least that too because standard service is £300 +VAT, plus anything else that they find (as you say there is always something with older cars). However its pretty reliable and better the devil you know etc. Not that we could afford to change anyway! Am leaving it till next week to book in, hopefully by then we 'll have invoiced and received some more SE income.
Looking forward to spring - it starts today doesn't it? but its cold wet & windy and miserably grey here today :(

Supersaver! Lovely to see you back and hope all is still going well for you:) DD much better now thank you. It is possible it might have been triggered by toothpaste - she had bought a new tube but it was the same brand Col*Gte - which we use most of the time, just a different variation of it (but one I have had at home in the past)- Who knows. She couldn't brush her teeth at all the first 3-4 days  All better now thankfully but desperately trying to catch up with reading/essays now (codeine made her very woozy). Will remind her about the honey for another time (thanks for the tip):)

Life is pants and full of lemons.

    kew307.jpg

I have started collecting lots of recipes for lemonade, now that I have got my head round our situation.
Last two months have been really c*ap and now I know officially it’s probably best to blurt it out here (as I have with everything else:p) after all its still anonymous and very few people know in RL. Problem is that they’ll have to know fairly soon. My health issues are now called rheumatoid arthritis, which wasn’t in my grand plan (at least not until I was in my hundreds;)). There was me thinking I was supermum:D, and now it turns out I really am with an immune system so super its turned on me:mad:.

Came on very suddenly in January, and until it gets under control with meds, there are days I can’t get dressed:eek:, or chop veggies, or reach up to get things on higher shelves. Not sure how it will affect my part time jobs:(. As I said. It wasn’t in the Plan. Dh has been wonderful, but very down, DS again brilliant at helping, with some angry outbursts. We're All trying to get used to a very new situation. Have so far managed to not let on, but getting more and more difficult – couldn’t open a bottle of water at work, or reach up to top part of whiteboard. Colleague sniggered when I asked for help:(. It may be 3-4 months before meds start working. I Do what exercise I can at the moment but have been advised to take it very gently. Have been strict on myself and cut out most of the naughty snacks and lost 2lb so far, with a goal to lose about a lb a week just by reducing portion size and not having seconds.
So money worries continue, but at the moment I just need to keep spending down as much as possible, as work on health to keep strength and mobility up. I’m going to try and keep going for another month or so before I say anything at work, fingers crossed that symptoms will settle quickly, so that I can be the ants-in my-pants can't-sit-still Me again :rotfl:

Not ever having been to the Drs much, my whole history came up on one screen :rotfl: and now I've had 4 appointments in 4 weeks:o. Prescription costs?

    Anyone fancy a lemonade?:)

Oh dear, NOA, sorry about the diagnosis. I was tested a few times for RA but had something else that was correctable via surgery.

I hope your medications kick in quickly and help manage things - and boo on your coworker for laughing! That's awful.

Re: prescriptions, if you know you'll need 1/month it's worth getting the pre-paid card. It's £10.40 for 10 months on direct debit (£104 total) and you get unlimited prescriptions. I have 4-5 prescriptions each month so it works out cost-wise, but it's also nice to know that I can just ask the GP to give me a prescription for something and it's free (like vitamin D supplements).

I was going to look that up this week Hiddenshadow, I have another 3 to pick up shortly, so thank you, that's really useful to know:). I will do that as will be on at least 1 for years to come, plus supplementary combinations if things don't settle. Have already spent over £40 this month.

It takes about 10 minutes to apply for one, and a week for it to arrive. If you apply for it today, though, and then pay for your 3 prescriptions later in the week, you can get those refunded as you'll technically have a valid PPC (just no evidence of it yet). :) I haven't tried refunding so don't know how complicated it is, but renewing the card was simple enough.

Thanks for the prompt HS :)-
Have just applied on line,:j just need to remember to ask for the NHS receipt - That will already save £20 if I get refunded for the next 3 :money:

I don't have receipts for the ones I have already paid for - apparently I could have backdated by a month :( Oh well - live and learn)

    now back to some work....

Finally got round to checking if DH "increases" in income over the last year will affect CB and by how much, thinking that I might shuffle extra into his pension, but it turns out that benefits like Company car are included the tax charge calc, so for 2015-16 it will all have to be paid back:( (So frustrating as we know so many people with 2 incomes earning £35K+ more than us who still get it, and most other benefits look at household income, not just one earner on higher rate)
Also did the calcs to work out company car tax, and we don't do enough private miles for the fuel card to actually cover the tax we have to pay, so all in all despite an almost 20% increase in income, we are about £100 a month worse off. You gotta laugh:rotfl: working harder doesn't pay. Looking on the bright side, we would not have been able to afford to replace DH's car.
Drove out yesterday to buy new wellies for DS for field trip tomorrow and got caught in a downpour/hail storm. Sun tried to come out from the dark grey clouds and there was the longest most beautiful row of silver lined clouds I have ever seen. There were loads of trees silhouetted against the sky, dripping wet, and all the water droplets caught the sun and twinkled like fairy lights. It was breath-taking, an absolutely magical moment. Made my day.
