I have been playing with my CC numbers and have done the first transfer today! so by the end of the month the situation will be:

    Nationwide - £5000 at 12.9% APR
    Barclaycard - £1038 at 6.9% LOB
    Barclaycard - £4250 at 0% until May 2015

To get to this point I need to pay off £850 to tidyup the balances and pay off the transfer fees. After that my plan is to pay off the £4250 first with minimum payments on the Nationwide CC - hoping that by May my credit rating will be better and will be able to get another low interest card or at least get a transfer deal on either the Barclaycard or Tesco card

I like a good plan! Just need to set my budget for next month around paying off £850 to my CC's! Its going to be a challenge with Christmas but it means my debt (excuding OD's) will be under 15k

No spends yesterday or today!! The rest of the week won't be quite the same as I am away at a resiential course. Train is paid for already and will get that back - but will need a coffee en route (have to be away at 6.30 and I don't function well until I have had at least 2 coffees!) and will have to buy dinner out tomorrow night. We will probably end up havng a few drinks too! The second night dinner is provided and all other meals are provided too. I need to leave a few pounds with my mum in case of emergencies too.

On positive note (i think!) got a message from kids dad saying he will start paying CSA next week - I doubt for one minute that it will be that simple and he will be plotting something - but not much I can do at the moment! No idea how much he has been asked to pay but I am sure I will find out soon enough! Every penny counts!

Hello judi - ' but will need a coffee en route ', so you will take a Thermos, containing your essential heart-starter made exactly to the strength/sweetness you like. I no longer have anything sweet in mine, but had long ago changed to honey anyway. Sometimes[rare] still do, if needing an energy jet.

Why, judi? This has lowest interest/smallest sum owing, whereas this has highest interest rate/largest sum o/s.
    Am I missing sth ?

Also, have I missed the verdict on that refund sum being yours definitely?

Not even 2 mths in and already you've blitzed over £2k from your debt.
I know it may not all go so smoothly [ but then again, it could!!! :-)], but this in tandem with your very steady, VERY impressive nsd tally, is astonishing.

Come next May, election time, there could well be bribes to grab, translated in terms of interest rate tfrs.

Saltire boys played a fantastic game against my ABs - 24-16 was a very worthy score. I've always liked the stamp of Glasgow. Last there, at Scotstoun, in January, vs my other beloveds: Toulon. At reception and big afters very impressive ambience, priorities, 1st principles on show. Great bunch of fine men.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Judi I am glad that he has reconsidered.

On the coffee front, could you make a big flask of lovely french press coffee from home? Or do you have any loyalty cards you could use up? And if you have a Waitrose card you could get a free one at any of their stores.

No its not at all Bobarella - my son was very angry with him! it is not and never has been my intention to turn my kids against their dad - but he seems to be doing that all by himself! I explained to my son that his dad is angry with me not him - but my son doesnt get that - why take 'my things' then? - its very hard to explain!

    Hi

I have been following your blog and am really impressed with your progress.

I would not try to explain. Children are exceptionally perceptive. You can not lie to him, so I would just try to reassure him of your love and support for him and siblings and if child refuses to go with Father support him quietly with his decision. A very sad but not uncommon state of affairs. Best wishes for the future.

I will have a nice cup before I leave home and survive until I get to venue (2hrs or so) then top up!!!

Am I missing sth ? - the balance transfer at 0% is only until May so was thinking if I could pay this off I could avoid a further transfer fee and the intrest going bak up to 19%

Bobarella - I will have a coffee at home and survive until I get to the destination - I probably won't have much time at the mainline station anyway! Will take fruit and water from home - its all about mindset isn't it? Pre LBM I would of treated myself to a nice coffee and may be a coissant at the station when I was traveling!

Thanks for you comments Maria - I worry that he is going to try to go down a legal route and blame me for lack of kids contact but I don't think he will get very far! I am not stopping them see or speak to him - they are just not happy to do so at the moment - if that changes then they will be supported to see him unless he tries to manipulate or play games with thier heads as he is doing now!!!

judi - when I go[e.g. for Tim Minchin] I stay up in Park Crescent [old shipping family mansion now with SYHA] :
    https://www.syha.org.uk/where-to-stay/lowlands/glasgow.aspx
-pay with Tesco vouchers. I scout Blochairn[ old fruitmarket] bootsale early Sun.s for anything likely to do sth @ Spitalfields. CS hunt'n'gathers for same reason.

When I saw similar rebate due, I just rang, quietly insisted on a chq AND 5 business days' issue deadline, politely but strongly, plus requirement of confirmation email. A Penelope Keith voice works well in these circs :-)

CS's and carboots abound with Thermoses... I also think it's ALWAYS wise to have one, charged up, in car, esp at this time of year.

Just let me say again how WELL you are doing and last order ce soir is to start enjoying anticipating your Course, not wasting headspace on possible 'can-go-wrongs'.

Ah I love Glasgow - used to live there! Might have a look at YHA place - sounds fab - love the Barras (lots of bargins to be had!) never been to Blochairn though - so what do you sell at Smithfields? Another place I have never been - when I am debt free I am going to explore more (on a budget of course!!!)

Yes I need to replace the thermos - its on the list - but will take my insulated mug tomorrow (with the dodgy lid) and hope i manage not spill it all overmyself!!!

I am happy to wait until the 1st December for rebate as it is gong to be used for Christmas - just means I can't sepnd it yet! Knowing me I will forget to pay the cheque into the bank and wait just as long anyway!

I can't help getting stressed about going away - but think I am just about organised (oh except for my packing!!!) - so having un petit COINTREAU - to help me sleep of course!!!

Thankyou for your kind words of encouragement - I am pleased with my progress to date - just need to keep going! My goal is to get to the point where I am no longer tied to my job just because of the salary should i begin to dislike it! I want to be able to go back into clinical practice should manangement take me to a point where I no longer care about patients (I am a nurse and have seen good nurses become bad managers focused on money not care!) - can't see it happening but if I get too frustrated with politics (with a small or big P) then I want to be financially secure enough to be able to ditch it all and go back to the bedside - oh and then retire to a cottage in France of course!!!
