I am such an idiot! When will I learn?

Thanks - that is really helpful response - I could pay the minimum on the Barclaycard and pay down the Nationwide card with the hope that by May I will either have another balance transfer offer or have repaired my credit enough to get another low iintrest balance transfer card
That is an option certainly but as the Barclaycard interest rate is the highest you will need to move it before 1 May 2015 to avoid paying 17.88%. The Nationwide card is only 12.9% so it would not be a disaster if you still had a balance on that one. The last thing you want to do though is undo all the good from having a 0% deal for six months by then having your biggest debt on the highest charging interest rate unless you are absolutely certain you will have an option to move by the time the zero interest deal has finished.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks enthusiasticsaver - I guess I could transfer back to the Nationwide if there was no alternative - but I would pay a second fee and only drop the intrest a little. Tie this in with my other post about trying to get CSA from my ex - if this was successful then potentially I would have another £300 a month to throw at the cards almost clearing the Nationwide by the time the 0% runs out on the Barclaycard!0

Yes it is only worth doing a balance transfer with a fee if the interest rate is a lot lower otherwise you negate the advantage. I hope that you manage to get some sort of contribution from your ex as that will certainly help with your DMP. I have only been following your diary for the last few weeks but can see you have already made great strides in reducing your debt so keep up the good work! I think the diary is a great way of seeing how far you have come.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks enthusiasticsaver - I am trying! Very trying as Ampersand might say! I hate paying interest but have really messed up somewhere along the line and ended up not being able to get another low APR card - so I just have to juggle with what I have at the moment! I have had to ask Barclaycard to send me a new card as I have cut it up in a fit of destroying all my CC's and the card number is no where to be found either online or on any paper statement!! They wouldn't give me the number over the phone despite passing their security checks - so I will just have to wait! but will still manage to do the transfers by the end of November hopefully!!0

Thanks Shoe Diva I rang tonight but they had no advisor to speak to me - they are going to ring me back! You are right - I am putting off so I don't have to deal with the s**t he causes - but that is giving in to his bullying tactics!!!
Well done - proud of you. You shouldn't have to give in to his bullying tactics. Your children deserve what they are due.0 -
Tried ringing CSA again tonight - but they still said they had no one available to start a claim!!! They said again that they would call me back!
Got notification from the 3 credit reference agencies that they are going to dislove th financial connection with my ex - so that's positive! Hopefully in 6 months or so I will be able to repair my credit rating so I can get another card at a low or 0% APR - I just need to heed Ampersands words and not even apply for 6 months.
In relation to spending - I have given my DS £1 bus fare yesterday and today - buts thats all - and that is budgetted for - would you count that as a NSD? I even avoided going to the shop on my way to work to get cakes for a baby shower - i made a batch of choc chip cookies instead this morning - and everyone was very impressed!!!0 -
I would count that as a NSD you can't help needing the bus so it's an essential cost. Yum. Home made cookies!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
