    I find it very sad indeed when couples sit there for an hour or more, and don't say anything. :(The chances are, that it's the same at home. How depressing. :(

    It isn't for us.

    LOL, me and 'er indoors are the opposite! Together over 30 years, and when we go for a meal, we chat incessantly. Our food goes cold half the time.:D

    I may be a little odd but I sometimes ask ' What shall we talk about '

    We pick a subject then talk about it! haha Am I strange!?

    I don't confine this behaviour to my OH I do it to mates aswell if I think the conversation is flagging!

    Not strange no but not something we do.

  • Yup, we're another of the quiet couples.

    The week before we married a few years ago we were at a restaurant and didn't say a word to each other all meal. I bet some people would have looked at us and thought our relationship was doomed, lol. But we've never been happier. DH is a quiet introvert and doesn't do chatter 'on demand' and we are comfortable sitting in companionable silence in public places.

    Family, friends, the kids, the neighbours, the weather, our forthcoming holiday, the last holiday, our past, our future, what's in the news, world events, work, issues at work, issues that friends have, our neighbours new conservatory, religion, politics, science, the environment, world news, our parents, our siblings, us as a couple, last night's telly, what's on tv, what we can see at the cinema or theatre. Many, many, many more things. A multitude of things.

    Strange question.
    You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:

    Sometimes I think the sign of a good relationship (with anybody) is being able to enjoy a comfortable silence. Sometimes there isn't anything to talk about and that's okay :)

    Personally, when my partner and I go out for dinner, I'm too busy enjoying the food to talk that much :D
