OP, going by your user name and what you've said about the campervan, chickens and growing veg, I think you're living in the wrong place.

You need a smallholding, not a house on a developement. :)

Thanks Gingervamp ! A fellow green-life lover by the sounds of it ! Yes maybe you are right but I might as well enjoy annoying my neighbours ! I seem to be doing a sterling job of it so far :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

This isn't sexist -my wife does all the cooking and Ironing - I do all the cleaning, gardening and washing, kids do the washing & drying up and other chores - everyones a winner !

She said what mum does......just because she didn't say what dad does.... ???

Don't all burn your bra's yet ladies (!):D

Most Husbands do at least their share of the household duties - speaking from experience :j:j:j:j:j:j:j

Don't get people started on that subject!!

We had a cracking topic on the division of household duties once, was quite funny how seriously people took it actually!

Yes it is amusing how people are responding already,....this has in the main, been a helpful and supportive thread for me.. I think a little humour along the way has helped it ..I believe that a thread can be enlightening, helpful for the OP and rewarding for those who post constructively knowing they are making a difference to the OP's situation with their advice and experience, some very genuine, down to earth and real individuals - means a lot, Thank you :)
  • I'm coming to have more and more sympathy with your neighbours.:(

All your posts in this thread have been in support of my neighbours rather than my family's situation really , I dont expect that to change now , but i respect the opinion of everyone who has posted including yours..it has made me look at the situation from the point of view of the neighbours rather than just my own...you can become locked in and selfish sometimes :)
  • I agree but it's quite annoying when children are being noisy in a residential area when there's a perfectly good park for them to play in as the OP says there is where he lives.
So, take them to the park and 'parent' them.

Don't chuck them out the front door and leave them to annoy the neighbours.

Please tell me these two posts are not serious.

Why if you have children and a garden would you be taking them to the park to play? Maybe sometimes you would but most of the time they would play in the garden or, if the street is quiet enough, in the street.

I don't have children but I would never expect any neighbours' children not to play outside. If they were continually screaming or kicking balls into my garden I may have a problem with it but otherwise not. Children play, often for quite a lot of the day, is a parent really meant to go to the park with them for all that time?

There are a lot of grassed areas where I live and they all have notices on saying "no ball games" as there is a park close by. In nice weather there are often children playing on these areas and, sometimes, they will be playing with a ball. To my knowledge no one has every complained and why should they? The only time I thought it was a problem was when a group of about 12 men were playing football, shouting and swearing extremely loudly

It's definitely the noise issue, not the physical act of playing. Some children shriek and scream, whilst others play without this need.

And that's an incredibly sexist thing for you to say! I am really surprised that you'd say something like that.:(

Ok, while dad cook or irons.

Makeitstop, you missed key conjunction 'or' in your efforts to be clever,
