Where do children play when mum is cooking or ironing etc?
Perhaps you'd prefer them stuck on a computer or in front of the TV.
For goodness sake, let children be children, especially in their own back garden.
And that's an incredibly sexist thing for you to say! I am really surprised that you'd say something like that.:(0 -
Of course the children should play in their own back garden, as long as they are not screaming all day long.
I agree with a previous poster who said that the OP has just picked the wrong place to move to.
So,the options are, either put up with it or move somewhere else.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Yep, I'm surprised by that too.
I mean come on, one thing at a time. Chances are she'll ruin the cooking by trying to iron at the same time, or likewise, there'd be trouble if there was a hole burnt in my favourite shirt if she was distracted by trying to cook while ironing it.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Oh and the "little section" of social housing (stressing there's not many "only 50").. we don't make them feel lower than us just because they rent...ah how nice.
I actually don't know whether to take offence or just laugh!
I laughed my head off at the post you were referring to...don't take offence, I get the impression that the poster in question was completely unaware of how laughable their attitude to the difference in classes actually is and could do with a trip to the real world from time to time
The bit where they say ''they can't be real middle class people, they must be working class'' sounds like a flashback to Dickension times. With love, POSR0 -

Wow, hark about making something out of nothing. I saw Jaylee's post (No.9) as actually a rather pleasant one. And it was very supportive of the OP. She was just saying that the OP's neighbours who are acting snobby are probably just working class who got lucky. I know some people like this myself. She is probably right. She didn't say that all snooty people in bigger houses are working class made good; it was just a suggestion that the OP's neighbour may be.
And as for her comments that 'some people live in very expensive housing,' and there are '50 homes that are social housing' and they all seem to get along fine; that was clearly just a way of saying that all the people from different backgrounds mix where she lives.
She was merely just putting things from her point of view, and you and a couple of others have made it out to be a laughable and rude and nasty post. It clearly was not.
I think this is more about attacking the poster than the post. You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
friend of mine moved to a village and about 2 weeks after moving in had a visit from his neighbour opposite his house politely asking him not to park his van outside neighbours house as his wife didn't want people thinking he "did some kind of manual work",he had no problem with this as just wanted a quiet life so tried whenever possible to park elsewhere though on a few occasions parked outside neighbours as only space available, neighbour only goes out and buys another car and parks it outside his house to block space and there it sat only ever getting moved on to drive for a wash before parking up again!I also have a neighbour who seems to think she is better than the rest of us in our little cul de sac, barely acknowledges us unless she wants to boast about her kids latest amazing achievement,to be fair they are decent kids but openly admit to us that they can get anything they want from their parents just by saying so and so has had this that or the other, bit sad really.0

Thanks for this Peter appreciate it - i agree Jaylee was being supportive to my thread here , Finally someone who sees this0 -

I assure you that it was the post that bothered me, I have no issue with the poster at all. I don't spend enough time on here to know who people are by names and I certainly don't mean to attack any poster so sorry if it came across that way.
I still however think she was suggesting that the problem was that they weren't real middle class people since all the middle class people she knows are nice and therefore they must be working class people who got lucky - and yes I find that rather rude. And by the way many working class people get a good education and work hard, and that why they can afford big houses - you don't just have to get lucky.
Anyway I think the OP has the answers he needs - I'm out.0 -

This isn't sexist -my wife does all the cooking and Ironing - I do all the cleaning, gardening and washing, kids do the washing & drying up and other chores - everyones a winner !
She said what mum does......just because she didn't say what dad does.... ???
Don't all burn your bra's yet ladies (!):D

OP, going by your user name and what you've said about the campervan, chickens and growing veg, I think you're living in the wrong place.
You need a smallholding, not a house on a developement.0
