Postwoman lets herself in

I don't really understand this it seems to me the postal worker is being pretty helpful.. If you don't like them coming in why don't you just lock the door? If I didn't want people coming into my house I certainly wouldn't be leaving the door open or unlocked.0

I guess it's up to the individual person. But actually coming RIGHT IN to your home seems a bit OTT to me.(•_•)

I'd advise most of you don't move to the Scottish highlands and islands lol:j
Our postie will open the door, pat the dog and pop the post on the hall stand. In our old house the postie there would open the door to put the post on the kitchen worktop and more often than not come in for a cuppa and a blether. Then again in our former location a burglar was pretty much an impossibility
These areas where everyone is locked down tight seem pretty scary0 -

It just is not on, and to be quite honest about it, this woman will be lucky if she is not reported for entering people's homes uninvited. It may only be through the "good sense" of the OP that she avoids getting into some real trouble over this.
The postie is inviting problems for heself with this behaviour.
I guess as jaylee says, it comes down to the individual, and what would bother one person wouldn't bother another.
Lots of post people do it, and I agree, that doesn't make it right. If the OP has a problem with it then she should tell the post women face to face, non of this !!!!!footing around saying that she doesn't like confrontation (most people don't), if she has a problem with it then tell her!! As I said originally, if the Post Women is a repeat offender even after being told, then that's the time to report her....of course that's just my opinion and how I would handle it.0 -

I agree with these posts ... (and Jaylee's.) Yes there is no right and wrong. As Zax says, it's second nature to some, who live in a very community minded village or small town or suburb. But to others, it's like what the fuuuuuu???????
I wonder if it's an age thing too. I think it's actually lovely that a place is this friendly and chummy and that the postie is so familiar, but my daughter would thinks it's weird and freaky. When people we don't know, say hello to us, she says 'weirdo' under her breath, but I think it's nice.
So it could be an age thing maybe...Young people - that I know - think over friendliness is weird. :rotfl:
PMSL as to how the word pu$$y got censored LOL0 -
Before you go down the road of reporting the postie concerned, there may be a simpler reason for this. If this relief has been trained by your regular postie it may be that the regular postie has explained that your post goes inside - MEANING that you answer the door and take it off him but the relief doesn't realise that they have to knock the door first - a simple mis-interpretation of information. All you need to do is explain to the relief what your regular postie does and can they do it as well. And there the problem should end!0

Our old postman just ran into our house once because he was being chased by the Alsatian police dog from 3 doors down! The poor fella was nearly crying, it really shook him up.0 -

I know, he was shaking so much! I always wonder if he retired or asked to be moved to a different area.0
