Postwoman lets herself in

Options
My regular postman is lovely and when he has a holiday the stand-ins seem lovely too.
But....there is a postwoman who has opened my front door to put the letters inside. Three times now.
The first was when I was sat at my desk which is in the hall near the front door. She opened the front door then apologised saying she hadn't realised what she was doing, it was almost like a subconscious action like she was at her own house. We laughed it off.
The second time I was in the back garden and came in to find the letters on my desk. I lock the front door now if I'm off in the back garden.
Then yesterday she did it again. I was walking down the hall so was about to pass the door and she opened the door, went to put the letters on the desk then saw me and gave them to me. No apology this time.
Am I right to feel a little miffed? I was a little shocked yesterday but getting annoyed the more I think about it. My regular postman manages to knock and wait for me to answer and I never take very long as I'm usually close to the front door anyway.
Should I make a complaint? I know I should probably confront her next time she does it but I'm always a little shocked and I don't like confrontation. Of course if I complain she will know who it is.....unless she does the same to other people

Don't you have a letter box for her to put the letters through the door?

Why doesn't she just put your letters through your letterbox?

As a first line of defence, as you dislike confrontation can you lock the door so she has to knock tomorrow.

That would probably set the precident and continued in this trend set the pattern for how it would continue, no?

I'm not sure what the complaint is, are you up there and our correspondance delivery officers are lower down the pecking order?
We all complain when they are on strike etc.
If my door is open then the post person will leave the letters in the house, I personally don't see what the big deal is, it's not as if they are burgling your premise.

In my own home? Too right!

Personally I wouldn't have the door unlocked but that's no excuse for the postwoman to just let herself in. I'd complain, she's bang out of order.

    This.

Why do people not have their doors locked anyway? Isn't there another thread like this on the families board at the minute? About door locking.

Ha ha, yes I have a letterbox. Other postal workers manage to use it.

Even though I'm in a busy city, the post persons by me, have all been very pleasant and wouldn't ignore you , if they saw you in the local supermarket.
If my front door is open (physically open not ajar) then they will leave the mail in the hallway, if the door is locked they leave it in the porch but ring the bell, if I'm not at home the porch is locked and they leave the mail through the letterbox.

I see what you and the OP mean, I think the OP should say to the postal staff 1st before levying a complaint.

I can't see where I gave the impression I think of myself as superior to a postal worker? I have admiration for them delivering in all weathers and I have family who in the job.
I'm complaining because ONE postal worker has opened my front door to put letters on my desk rather than pushing them through the letter box like every other postal worker manages to do.

    Then lock the door.

You can even put a note on the door saying "Please put post through letter box".
