Hmm despite a huge on line supermarket shop done for delivery Thursday evening - £140  (includes alcohol!) I find we are still missing key items. Had to get some salad yesterday and some granulated sugar today so the apparent disorganised food shopping continues unabated.

Work is (insert own negative adjective here - the stronger the better & I'm particularly open to swear words :D)at the moment, I haven't had a proper appraisal and when I raised it was told it was because I had a week off at end of May. Well ok (although I don't think blaming the employee is the right way to tgo here) but I would still appreciate the follow up meeting but nothing scheduled.

I hate being pushy but I'm going to have to email my boss and directly ask for some kind of appraisalesque type meeting. Irony is I am ambivalent about them but I need to play the corporate game I think.

The paranoid side of me is thinking this is because of the current UK redundancy cycle and means I'm in scope - but the rational side of me thinks there's no way the company is that joined up.

I hate feeling like this though.

Aside from that no news, just plodding along until pay day at end of next week.

Still plodding on with little in the way of news or updates. Still haven't approached my manager about the appraisal situation which is playing on my mind.

Few house chores to do today, some boxes in the lounge to sort through and remove, hoover through, tidy kitchen, clean downstairs loo.

Hoping DH will mow the lawn, we have friends coming for bbq this afternoon - also hope it stays dry although forecast not looking too good.

No money news but less than a week away from pay day. Thinking about splitting any left over money 3 ways (between slush fund, house money & long term savings) will be very little bits of drip feeding though.

I put so much thought into all this for a few quid here and there - shame it isn't thousands I'm moving around

Gosh you've been busy! Are you able to post a photo of your new kitchen? It sounds amazing, even if the walls look a little grubby! I'm so jealous. I've been watching far too many house programmes and yearning for perfection! DD is still in the Tasmanian devil stage of life so no point getting anything nice yet!

Thank goodness we're not in America. It's disgusting how they treat their staff.

Hi amycool - working out how to insert an image certainly gave me a challenge - fingers crossed what I've done has worked!

If so I'll post another couple.

A staggering lack of news, had to buy some milk today & some medicine for the dog on Monday but apart from that no spending. Will have just over £400 left in current account Friday when I get paid and will split it 3 ways between long term savings, slush fund and money for the house - still have rooms to get decorated & have run out of money so need to start building that up.

Back in the land of the living after being up all night Thursday watching politics - very compelling viewing - even DH was up until gone 2 am. Early night & good 8 hours sleep last night so feel human again.

Dropped DS at drama and did a C0stc0 shop - pretty expensive but only 1 impulse buy (a swinging fruit hammock - sounds odd but I really like it) for £12. Lots of staples bought so should have a few low cost weekly supermarket shops.

This afternoon I cleaned main bedroom - long overdue - was horrified by the cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling

Did stop to watch the penalty shoot out in the football - so exciting - they could do all football matches like that - much more exciting and over in 10 minutes. :rotfl:

Really humid here today, already had one thunder storm and another one looks likely.

Off to the shops tomorrow, DH actually suggested it which is unusual, but we haven't been for ages and you can't buy everything from the internet. Want to get a new ceiling light for the dining area of the kitchen.

Finally had a call with my boss today, I was very candid with him and he equally with me. He was very supportive and complimentary of me and assured me I was not (that he knew of!) on any redundancy hit list. Take it all with a little bit of suspicion to be honest as he is American and in my experience they do throw the complements are around much more than we do.

Still, feel better having had the conversation and have made it clear I can pick up some more work - ball is in his court now.

Ordered some clothes last night (sadly from an outsize shop ) Realised we go on holiday 3 weeks on Friday and I have very little to wear. The lofty notion of losing weight to fit into stuff I already have is not looking very realistic right now.

However have had discussion with DH about us both needing to lose some weight - if he's on board that has to be a good thing. So this weeks shop contains no crips, chocolate bars or ice creams - all treat foods we have got into the habit of eating far to often.

I'm also planning on increasing the walking - although saying I'm planning on it is making excuses right - I should be doing it not planning on doing it!

On that note I'm off to eat some carrots....

Up and out early today as I had a hair appointment at 8.30 and live a 30 minute drive from my hairdressers - have been going to her for over 20 years!

Popped to the shops afterwards to swap a shirt I bought for DS that didn't fit. Walked past a beauty salon and got a pedicure - so nice to get rid of all that rough skin and have some colour on my toes. Very lazy to pay to get it done but they do a much better job than I could, I love the massage chair (am obv a bit of a masochist!) and its a lovely treat a couple of times a year.

Now back home, rain is coming down so that rules out any gardening today - shucks! Granny nap beckons and then some house chores.
