Amycool you put me to shame being ill and still doing more than I did! I should be one of those people who can enjoy their own company and get on and keep busy especially when given a day pretty much to myself at short notice.

Instead I felt bored, ate too much and watched some Judge Judy

Hope you feel better today Amy

Last working day of the week :j Have tomorrow off so I can stay up late/all night to watch the election results - geeky I know but I love it!

Also another long weekend which is nice although I'll probably spend a fair bit of time asleep tomorrow!

This week I feel disorganised as I have had to nip to the local corner shop for top ups on milk, bread & butter - all staples that for some reason we didn't have enough of. Might need to reassess my weekly food shop - it's all very well having a low weekly shop cost but its self defeating if I then do top up shops at expensive local shops. This seems to be becoming a habit.

No other money news, lounge curtains due tomorrow - looking forward to getting them up and then the room will be pretty much finished. :T

Productive day today, cleaned the patio and got the garden furniture out - parents coming round for afternoon tea tomorrow so hoping to sit outside.

3 loads of washing done and nicely drying outside - so nice not to have radiators draped with clothes or the dreaded tumble dryer costs!

Meringue made for pudding tonight - first time I've ever got one off the baking paper in one piece - success!

Kitchen cleaned, hall and lounge cleaned and hoovered through.

DH is even fixing the downstairs loo :j

We have decided to go ahead with the floor quote we have for the kitchen/hall and have ordered and paid the deposit for that.

Lots of plans for the garden but need to go slow and cost up properly We are pretty much out of the house investment money we had set aside once the kitchen has been done.

Lovely day almost wish we had got the bbq out..

Thanks Bookworm - sadly when I got the creme fraiche out of the fridge it was mouldy - we ended up with only blueberries & meringue which was somewhat dry! No wonder I don't enjoy cooking - something always goes wrong :rotfl:

Wow its hot already, really sweaty after the dog walk - one of the reminders of being overweight is not coping well with the heat.

Off to the shops shortly to get a few bits in - the need for mid week top up shops continues -forgot to buy milk this week - not sure how I managed that one!

Then some pottering round the house and garden.

New curtains look fab, lounge is pretty much finished now (apart from the cable nest but the less said about that the better:D).

I do think the walls look a little bare in places and have a desire to buy a picture or 2 - will hold off but think that may be something to look for while on holiday this summer.

It's nice to get a job completed. I'd love new curtains for the lounge (ours were here when we arrived) but the ones we have look so expensive - just not my taste.

I thought I was good doing 2 lots of washing but you beat me with 3! :D

Hi Amy - if its any consolation our old curtains had been up for 15 years  they are scarily expensive- french doors so full length and 2 pairs. So will likely be another 15 yrs before I replace!

Really bad night sleep Sunday as I was so hot and just seemed to toss & turn all night. Ended up having to go to bed at 9 last night after a very difficult day at work struggling to stay awake

I know I shouldn't say it but I'm glad the weather has cooled - so much easier to get on and do stuff.

DH did one of his supermarket shops today - so much for me trying to do a more comprehensive internet shop to avoid these mid week top ups. This was more about him fancying a Chinese ready meal. Part of me is annoyed but another part thinks it's his money so his choice if he chooses to reject what I had planned for dinner - also a ready meal!

No money news from this week although with the amount we are spending on the kitchen over the next few weeks its just as well I am not spending on a day to day basis:eek:

DS has a sleepover/party tomorrow night so will need some cash for that. DH and I might splash out while he is away and get a proper take away. We really should go out but it's Eurovision! - I know I'm sad but you cant' beat a bit of cheese!

Need to clear the kitchen surfaces and empty all the drawers this weekend. I think it will be a bigger job than we anticipate. DH also being a bit naive as he thought we could just put a stuff on the table - didn't seem to think through the dust that may well be generated having new doors etc fitted.

New hob & gas fitter also due Monday - am quite twitchy about the logistics of it and think it will be a miracle if it all co-ordinates properly. These things always make me tense, for once I'm glad DH will be at home Monday as well.
