Spent over an hour weeding and hoeing and it doesn't look that different - bag full of garden waste seems to be the only thing that proves otherwise. Struggling to see how gardening is anything but a thankless task.
Feel pooped now as well.
Still need to :
Clean bathroom
Hoover downstairs
Sort washing
Ironing
Pack up kitchen ready for workmen to start Monday

Well day one of kitchen renovation and everything looks a mess  Cupboard doors all off, filthy floor and a garden of rubbish.
On the plus side:
New hob has been successfully fitted and looks good
New sink, tap & under sink cupboard also successfully fitted
Poor fitter has to drive from Birmingham (over 100 miles) to get here. He got here just before 10 and didn't leave til after 5. Don't envy those kind of hours or that drive after a hard days work.
DH thinks tomorrow will be transformation day when we start to see big improvements.
Quite difficult fitting in work around all this!0 -

So much for today being transformation day in the kitchen - it looks like a bomb site there is that much dust and rubble around.
DH had to nip out after work to buy a cheap vacuum cleaner as would likely ruin the Dys0n if we used that on it.
Also have issues with one of the cupboards resulting in an extra cost of £100.
DH is currently having to sort out the connection of the new extractor fan because a cupboard is being moved the original socket is exposed to he needs to extend it.
I think the dog is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
I think it's always like this when getting work done like this - the dust etc gets everywhere and nothing ever goes without a few hitches (at least for us:cool:) My mantra right now is 'it will look fabulous when finished, it will look fabulous when finished'0 -
It will look fabulous when it's finished!!!

I lived through a kitchen replacement at the in-laws'. It's amazing how much dust can be made isn't it?Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

Ok, the kitchen fitter finished yesterday around 6pm. The irony is that all the doors are covered in pale blue protective film and he advised we leave it on until after the floor is done. The high gloss doors will be static and attract dust initially and as we are having the floor screeded it would be horrendous.
So it all looks good if a little blue!
Of course once the floor is done we need to get the walls redecorated and ideally re-tiled.
Why do the kitchen in 1 go when we can do it in three phases and treble the hassle & stress :T:rotfl:
Am putting stuff back quite slowly as am decluttering and cleaning as I go along. Found a load of glasses that were really sticky and dirty as they haven't been used for years.
So the kitchen does still look a bleeding mess but slowly is improving and by about September will be fabulous!0 -
We are slowly getting there in the kitchen cleaning cupboards and decluttering as we go along - 6 sacks of rubbish so far:eek: I know many people on here would be horrified I'm not trying to sell any of it but most of it is out of date food/chipped crockery or tat so it really doesn't seem worth the effort.
Starting to feel good about the kitchen and hopefully will be so much easier to keep things organised after the big clear out - even managed a huge quarrel with DH last night about it as he is a real hoarder:cool:. I stormed out of the house at about 10.30 last night but didn't take my bag so had no money and petrol is way too expensive to drive round randomly. Few loud, angry songs played in the car and I felt better - was home within an hour.
And yes we have made up0 -
I used to share a room with my hoarder sister and it made for lots of arguments! Once she went to stay with her boyfriend for a week and I had a "clean-up". When she got back she went mad and didn't speak to me for weeks. I'm very much a tidy home tidy mind person, although ironically I'm naturally quite scruffy, which probably says a lot about my mind.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

Very pleased work is done, I have next week off and feel like I need to break away from it. Lots going on not really in a positive way. Will be ironic if I end up being made redundant this time round when I don't want to be after they rejected my request in December when I did want to be!
Trying to keep the mantra that there is no point worrying about things I can't influence but thats been hard to abide by this week.
Anyway can put that out of my mind for a few days now :j
Will be going to C0stc0 today which always hits the bank hard but does work out cheaper in the long run. DH is out all day so I may watch some girly telly - just in the mood for a lazy day.
Lots planned while I am off and do want to get some jobs done in the house so will need to put a list together as I don't ant to end up wasting the week.
Well the dog is looking at me with those soulful eyes as she wants her walk - at least the sun is shining!0
