Got back from shopping to find the dog limping and felt a lump at the top of one of her back legs. Vet took a sample to send off to the lab for testing but she seemed to think it may well be nothing serious. Cost (so far) £140! Shouldn't really moan, the dog is worth it but this is her third visit to the vet in a month!0

Last day off work and have been stonkingly unproductive. For some reason feel really tired, have had a nap, watched some telly, made a lasagne, watched DS in his summer drama show and popped to the supermarket.
Washing isn't put away, ironing hasn't been done, and the house needs hoovering & dusting. Wish I could either get it done or not do it and not think about it. Instead I haven't done it and am sitting feeling guilty!
Will have to get up early and crack on with some jobs tomorrow.0 -
Phew it's already hot, quite sweaty after that dog walk, am sat in front of the fan to cool down before I start cleaning the bathroom - hmm something to look forward to
Lovely day yesterday with old friend who came up for lunch. DH did a bbq and we sat in the garden all afternoon. Watched some olympics in the evening (once in 4 years I get interested in sport!) marvelling at the men's gymnastics.
Today in addition to the bathroom will sort out the washing mountain & just chill out - boring but oh so indulgent & enjoyable.0 -
Dreaded first day back at work after 12 days annual leave finally over and it was a joyless as expected. Couldn't remember one of my passwords which is also par for the course. Tired now - forget how the time can drag being tied to a laptop especially when alone at home.
Made myself go for a walk when I finished work as that is my food danger time and I am really trying to reduce my food intake. It worked but not something I'm sure I'll really maintain - one day at a time huh.
Checked my bank account today and there is a deposit of just over £25 gone in - no idea where this has come from but the reference looks like something I have written - shoved it into long term savings but although it's a nice surprise am concerned I don't know where it has come from.
Renewed house insurance, took the lazy option of sticking with current provider - charge is £2 more than last year - know it's lazy not to do a comparison but policy expires 10th so it just seemed the easier option.
Vets didn't ring with the dog's test results must chase that up tomorrow.0 -
Swathes of redundancies at work across the globe (basically in any country without decent employee protection legislation), UK not affected but our redundancy cycle from May still ongoing
So not the best atmosphere nor does this provide much hope for the short term future. Still when I think a year ago I was desperate to be made redundant I shouldn't be worrying. Am coaching myself that it will be a good thing if it happens.
Enjoying all the Olympic coverage very much, bit of overload but hey it's only every 4 years.
Good news re our mortgage. We are on a rate that tracks directly to the BOE base rate so the interest payments have gone down again. Bank decided otherwise and wrote to us to notify us of interest reduction and that they were reducing monthly payments (by half!)
Got DH to contact them (of course mortgage in his sole name ) and the person he spoke to was amazed we wanted to keep payments the same and pay more than we were contractually obliged.
Is nice to know we have the option to reduce monthly payments if we do lose my income.0 -
Went to a local garden centre Saturday, ended up spending £20 - small present for my dad, new laundry basket and an artisan bread mix. Also managed to lose my phone in there (left on side in the loo) - was so panicked but fortunately it had been handed in at customer services so I got it back - it even still had my emergency £10 in the case :T Must be more careful.
Also had to pop to supermarket as needed a few bits despite weekly shop arriving Friday. Now discovered we have no cheddar so DH will get some as its needed in tonight's dinner recipe. Really feel I've dropped the ball with food organisation lately, constantly having to pop to the local shop mid week for things we have run out of. Need to get my act together.
Work very quiet - less said about it the better - makes me feel glum at the moment.

Phew a slow week but finally the weekend is here. Not too much planned, have cinema tickets for tomorrow (reduced price
) DS has now been invited to a sleepover so will just be me and DH - think we'll go and see Jason Bourne, this will be interesting as I haven't seen any of the others.
Aside from that will be jobs round the house and maybe a trip to a garden centre - probably a little late in the season to be getting enthusiastic about it but I suddenly find myself wanting more plants and colour in the garden.
No money news whatsoever, need to start Christmas shopping though - I expect most money savers have already finished having bought throughout the sales!0 -
Another trip to the garden centre both in an effort to do more stuff (honest!) resulting in a spend of £46 - ouch!
Cinema later but already have the (reduced) tickets....0 -
Hope work stuff settles down soon & that all turns out ok for your puppy dog

Have a lovely time at the cinema - yay for cheap tickets :ja penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library0 -
Thanks Perla*Merle - less said about work the better!
DS appears finally to have got somewhat bored with his Xbox and has been asking to do jobs in return for payment. I have been mentioning this to him for years so am pleased he is showing some oomph! That said his industriousness has cost me £5 in the last day :eek:0
