  • Been quiet over the last few days as I haven't had much to talk about really! Life ticks on.

Only £200 left in the current account until the end of the month, so will have to be very careful between now and then. Think we have been a bit complacent this month- haven't bought anything major but extra bits and bobs here and there.

Ooooh just heard some potentially exciting news from DH! He is due his annual payrise at the end of this month, and apparently his company are revising some pay scales upwards! We will be a few hundred pounds better off even if they leave his scale as it is but if the rumoured figures banded about at work are true it might be a fair bit more!

If it did happen, and we chucked it all straight at the debt, it would mean we could possibly even become debt free by the end of this year!

Not sure when they find out, might not be until the end of the month, so I'm going to put it out of my head and try not to get my hopes up!*Resisting urge to spend rest of afternoon fiddling with spreadsheets and day dreaming*

Found out today that the pay scales are going up quite a lot :j... but not until next year. So, great news, but we won't be celebrating being DF in 2015! :rotfl:

Nevermind! Grateful to be getting any sort of payrise, the extra few £100 each month will definitely speed things along, so all good :)

  • Been reading but not posting much over the last few days, not much to report.

Should have another £320 coming in from my work before the end of the month which will go over to the CC, but don't think we are going to get much further than that this month.

There is about £100 left in the current account to pay for food etc until DH's payday so will need to be careful. Rent is due from our tenants any day now but we will need that to pay off the CC that DH still uses for spending. Hopeful that we will end the month on target!

Found a cheap and easy healthy meal that the children enjoyed last night- baked potatoes with the insides scooped out and mixed with peas and tuna, put back in the skins and put under the grill with cheese on top. I had some too and it was tasty!

Been looking at going on some sort of cheap and cheerful UK holiday in the summer- either camping or perhaps renting a little cottage or something somewhere. Would only set us back a few weeks DFD wise and I think we have decided we are ok with that.

As things stand we are hoping to get under £20k at some point in May.

  • Been meal planning today trying to get creative with our existing kitchen contents. We have £90 spending money to last us 11 days... which actually sounds like plenty but I know how easily it could fast be spent on top up shops and the odd spend here and there!

We seem to have plenty of meat in the freezer which should do us if we make it stretch, plus several tins of tuna. Think we have enough for at least 8 evening meals and on the other days we can have cheap and cheerful pasta, baked potatoes, or homemade pizza. Hopefully will get away with just a fresh veg/milk top up at the weekend to tide us over.

Must admit sometimes I quite like it when things are tight towards the end of the month at it really forces us to think about every penny we spend, which is no bad thing!
