9 days to go until payday... so near and yet so far! This month it has felt as though we are treading water rather than making good progress :o

Need to do a frugal Lidl shop for the week today and get on top of all the housework. Exciting stuff

Having an impatient day today. You know, the ones where you stare fruitlessly at spreadsheets as though gazing at them long enough will somehow magic the figures down.

Did my big food shop yesterday and got a trolley full for £55 so pleased with that. Have about £100 left until the end of the month and a kitchen full of food so hoping to skim a little more onto the CC early next week, if we are good.

Determined to make next month the month that our total starts with a 1!

    Where do you shop Pink?

I had one of those days yesterday :( I didn't get very far lol. I know you can make it to the 1's. If anyone can, it's us MSE'ers!

    We shop at Lidl :)

Got tonnes too! Thought it would be more like £70 when I got to the till as I bought a lot of meat and had to buy things like washing liquid and other bits like that on top of food- was pleased with £55!

Popped into Morrisons on Sunday evening and got some stuff to have fajitas for tea, a few big bags of crisps, and a bottle of wine- £28!!!!! Reminded me why it is MUCH better to do a big weekly shop at Lidl!

  • One week to go until payday...

Planning to cook a HUGE spag bol this evening, padded out with plenty of onions, veg, and lentils. Hoping there will be more than enough for a meal tonight and then another for the freezer.

  • Skimmed £60 over to the CC this morning.

Determined to have a productive day today. I need to...
    • Re-fill and send the offset account application forms (sent back to us last time as we forgot to fill a bit in).
    • Take a couple of car loads of garden stuff to the tip.
    • Plant out some vegetable seedlings.
    • Mow the lawn.

Cheap and cheerful pasta for tea this evening I think!

I keep debating the whole LIDL shop thing, but doing it online is the only way I've found to stay well within my budget, I am such an impulsive shopper in the supermarket.. plus I figure I don't have the petrol used or my time going round actually spent shopping - but then I can't help thinking I'm missing out on super savings by not doing my shop there!

You've inspired me to do spag bol today! MOuth watering at 6.30am for one

Thanks DFB35! Have had a productive few days, lots of time sorting the garden and planting veg in the sunshine this weekend! :)

Why not give a Lidl (or Aldi, they are much of a muchness I think) shop a go one week Debtfreeoneday? Personally I don't think the temptations are quite as much there as the range is so much more limited (plus they don't seem to lure you with tempting offers for multiple buys of things- my downfall in the past). When I first started shopping at Lidl I did a supplementary shop at a bigger supermarket for bits I couldn't get there but now I can't even remember what those bits were- when we do a proper weekly shop we buy everything at Lidl. Some of the Lidl stuff is SO much nicer than other supermarkets too... their wafer ham is even better than the stuff Waitrose sell for 3 times the price for example.

Anyway, today I'm feeling excited for the week ahead! I cashed a £300 cheque for some of my work which should clear, and then payday in a few days, and hopefully a figure starting with a 1 in the next week or two! :j
