Poos Jessie didn't care for the hailstorm we've just had. Luckily I took her for walkies earlier, when it was only raining a bit. But even though she was safe indoors, the hail rattling on the patio door unnerved her. I don't think she's ever seen it before. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Your hail has just arrived here LW with thunder and lightning (or you could be getting more depending on which way the weather is blowing). The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Valli great booting and sorting gong on by you, is DD worried about Thursday?skint_breeder_5 wrote: »Extra special thanks to DD1 who has had DS in with her 3 nights this week and dealt with the night terrors without waking me up ....meaning I have got upto 5 hours sleep in one night, so a bit more productive.
I have sorted DS's uni kitchen stuff. I borrowed his HUGE casserole dish this week so I have combined returning it to storage with actually sorting it out. His plates etc are now re-packed in the box they were bought in, (I had saved that yet he didn't pack the pots in to bring them home *sigh*) so his other fragile stuff is in one box, properly wrapped and his pans etc in the other. I have also cleaned his sandwich toaster. *SHUDDER* For my piece of mind they will all have to be washed when he moves into his new accomodation:cool:.
ATM it's sunny and bright here so the washing is out for a blow.
I am going to do my bedroom next.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Up at 7am today, both of us bathed, both fed, both beds stripped, all the dirty laundry collected, DD made sausage rolls and out the door by 11am
Thanks by the bucket to my dad who took me to 2 different DIY shops for all the paint (2x10ltr and 7x 2.5tr of paint) & wallpaper (9 x 20m rolls of 1200 grade lining paper) and other odds & s0ds I can't easily get/get home from around here. I shouldn't have to call on daddies taxi until Christmas Day now!
Came home, put it all away, had lunch, WM x2 just finishing with 3 more to go in, paperwork flung so my diary now actually closes, DD's pictures from when the Giants were in Liverpool uploaded onto my laptop (I'm just about to go through them all & flip them the right way etc), survey done, and I'm going to do some photo juggling of the old photos. Hopefully I've fixed the indexing problem on my laptop so I can actually see if I have any duplicate images.
Now the WM is shouting me so I'll go deal with that and then get on. NO DIY is getting done today, just houseworkCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
New Behaviour Trial #1: Told a prospective lodger (by email, so I am still a coward, obvs) that I think she'll be happier somewhere else. Mostly when I get a bad feeling about someone it's borne out by experience. This time I didn't wait to find out the hard way. (Dons tin hat for outraged email response.)

Gah, I'm home. Well. I was coming home anyway, but in couldn't leave the children at the campsite with my mum (torrential rain, beginnings of flood, electric kept going off, awning leaking and no mobile signal)
Spoke to MIL (lives halfway between home and camp) and she said "come straight here!" So granny to the rescue again, kiddies are staying with her instead of my mum so I can work. Mum is disappointed but she knows if there was an emergency, she'd be stuck. Her and stepdad are coming home in the morning. Caravan will stay on site until bank hol so we can go back if / when the weather perks up.
So I'm home alone until Wednesday
On the plus side, the house will be tidy
Happy birthday to mr kitten
Well done honey bear hope you get an equally diplomatic response!
Well done to skinty's dd I remember before DD was diagnosed with her milk problem she screamed all night every night, and only when MIL stayed did I get any sleep. My auntie said "well we never had anyone to help, we had to do it ourselves" until my mum explains what it was like (she too had seen in first hand) she apologised after that. Sleep deprivation over such a length of time is torture in some cultures!!!Bossymoo

Thank you Bossy. She's not happy but that isn't actually going to kill me. I need to learn how to say no to people when it's appropriate without thinking my world is going to implode - it never does.
Sorry about the kiddiewinks holiday not working out as planned but you never know, the weather may improve once this storm has blown itself through.Better is good enough.0 -

Aaah am absolutely cream crackered... It's only day 2 of having niece and already I am ready to curl up and sleep for England..lol. I did fall asleep this afternoon on the sofa while she watched some boring programme on t.v..
We decided to go to Whitstable after the remnants of Bertha finished chucking the rain and thunder at us.. Actually it turned into a really nice afternoon, and DH treated niece to a fish and chip dinner in the loveliest chip shop thereShe seemed to enjoy it too, and then I treated her to a couple goodies, nothing special just a new reading book and a notebook for her to record her daily activities in to show her mum what sort of things she has done while here. I thought it would be nice to keep a diary of what she has done/where she has been etc.. and after a lot of cajoling and getting her a nice book to write in I think she is going to do this
One of the things I found for a child with Aspergers to do on a site for this. They give you a list of things to do in the summer and this is one of them
Tomorrow we are having a girlie day, I have had instructions by my sister to take her to get her hair cut. So I thought I would do that and get my nails done at the same time - make it a girlie dayHopefully she will enjoy this, especially as we are hopefully really cutting her hair short - making a drastic cut sort of thing.
I dread to think how I'm going be by the end of the week...absolutely shattered probably...it will take me all of next week to recover from this.
