Yes, this is true. I just don't like to see large organisations throwing their weight around.

If someone came onto your property and started rummaging through your bin for receipts, what would you say ?

Tesco property, Tesco bin, they can throw as much weight around as they like.

I think if I owned a shop I would ban any customer who was going through the bins whether they found anything or not.

It's a very strange thing to do!
  • Just complain to their customer services and claim ignorance. I imagine you'll soon find yourself unbanned. If they even remember you anyway.

I found a trolley in the trolley with a receipt in it. It had 2 points on it. I went to the customer service with the discarded receipt to get the 2 points. And out swoop the security guard who claim it's' 'theft.' He took me to the back room and said that 2 points is considered the same offense as shop lifting and banned me.

Reclaiming 2 clubcard points = 2p at face value or upto 6p in deals.

The OP didnt spend the money to earn these points, she's breached Tesco T&C's and technically broken the law.

And as already pointed out, he was absolutely right. Ive even quoted the specific offence for you on the first page.

You asked whether this was correct, which it was. I dont know what else you want to achieve.

I was just replying to an earlier poster asking if it was taken from bin or trolley.

Sure. But the points themselves do not have value, nor does the receipt.

Perhaps the offence would have taken place at the point when the points were exchanged for money or money's worth?

I'm not sure she has. Increasingly we see this "Tesco's lore" type of thing. It's not good for our society.
