Is it though? Do the points have a value as such? What about the intended transaction is misrepresentation?
And even if it was an offence, Tescos and their security guard are not judge and jury.
Does the receipt and/or the Ts & Cs state that unclaimed points are non-transferable?0 -
I believe what you do is in breach of this part of the Ts&Cs as the points weren't awarded to you, so are not able to be transferred to your account.Clubcard accounts, cards, key fobs, coupons, points and vouchers cannot be transferred, bought, sold or in any way traded.
Also, was it in the trolley or the bin? If the latter, it may not have been purposely left there by the previous customer.
However, Tesco are within their rights to ban any person from entering their premises if they choose. As long as it's not based on sex/religion/age etc etc0 -

Of course the points have value. If they didnt then the OP wouldnt be rummaging through bins looking for discarded receipts.
Afraid Tesco are judge and jury when it comes to who they allow into ther premises. (As long as its not discrimination based on race, sex etc).
No, Tesco clubcard points are not transferable - Its in their T&C's.0 -
Whether or not it was an offence doesn't really matter anyway.
The store belongs to Tesco. They can ban anybody they like from the store just because they felt like it. They don't have to prove any criminal offence has taken place. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Yes, this is true. I just don't like to see large organisations throwing their weight around.0 -

Why should they not 'throw their weight around' when the OP is clearly pulling a fast one?0 -
Because Tesco is not the arbiter of all that is good.0

No one has suggested they are. Are you suggesting the OP should be allowed to claim points that are not his to claim?0
