These accounts allow you to set up DDs for small amounts. I have 1 DD for each Tesco account; they then appear as 2 different DD mandates on my Halifax Reward current account. I've got mine set up for £1 on a monthly basis. I then transfer £750 over and out (via standing order)....free £5 every month.
Account runs by itself.
Thanks Karlie :beer:0 -

Some of the questions asked clearly show that some are not looking where they should which makes me think that not all the decisions are that well informed as incentives are clouding the issue.
However, I do think that advising others without knowing of their financial status/history is somewhat naive, after all this is why FSAs are regulated and why you as a doctor should understand that. I'm sure you'd never advise a patient to obtain information about health matters from an online forum
Noddle would be the last place anyone should keep an eye on, it's information is unreliable and frequently out of date as is Call Credit, it's sister company. Not all agencies hold the same info, the vast majority of lenders will use either Experian or Equifax and people should look at those sites, then the others. Which lender uses who can be found with a quick google search.
I would advise anyone/everyone to obtain reports from all on an annual basis, in most cases this can be done FOC or at worst by paying the £2 statutory fee.
Searches for some of those listed above are SOFT searches which differ from FULL searches as carried out when applying for Credit/Bank Accounts, Finance or Mortgages. Soft searches are not visible to all, will not affect your credit record whereas full searches are and will.
It's an extremley complicated business and should not be taken lighlty as it appears here. There are hundreds of factors taken into consideration which most will not be aware of, hence why many run into problems a few months/years later and why debt is so high in the UK.
EDIT : Just to add, I've made my point and will leave it at that....back to glitching.
I understand your point.
I'm sure that some of these T&Cs confuse people, hence, they ask on here on the Elite thread just like people ask for advice on the Budgeting and Bank forum. Queries here are very similar to what that they are over there.
Now that people have seen this discussion take place, I'm sure they'll be able to make a fully informed decision.
If people ask for advice re: £5 monthly rewards, criteria for earning £100 incentives, how to set up Tesco DDs etc, then I shall advise them appropriately. I will also add a relevant link to take them to the appropriate website for the T&Cs.

On another subject how is everyone doing with their gas/electric balances?
I take our metre readings twice a month - start and 15th and I enter them online. We only have electric so its one bill.
When we switched to scot power at the start of the year it was winter - storage heaters all on, 2 computers running, lots of hot meals etc. So our daily average then was between 25 and 30 units per day.
Since this summer started our averages keep dropping and dropping and now we are using under 10 units a day - no heaters on, showers instead of baths etc
After some discussion with scot power we agreed on £90 a month direct debit so we have been in credit apart from the first month or two. Now we are up to £190 in credit but I am not going to draw this down yet. By mid September if the heaters are still off and if it is over £250 then I might have another think.
But its worth checking to see how much in credit you are. If its into several hundreds then it might be worth seeing wether you can withdraw it - August is a bad month with the kids home, uniform and shoe buying so drawing down might bridge the gap until payday.
It will probably mean an increase in your direct debit payments from October onwards so that's something to think about as well.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Questions are being asked here of complete strangers, answers are provided, albeit probably correctly and in good faith, but it seems some people are relying on this info when ALL the info readily available on the respective institutions websites.
If something goes as unexpected would the defence be...well someone on the internet told me, I didn't look at the website or begin to think the effect it may have with the CRAs.
I would URGE people to seriously think before opting for these incentives. SOME people have the ability to do this with little effect to their record because they have impeccable records, but the majority don't and these applications will impact their records and possibly quite severley if considering mortgage applications in the next 12 months.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -

Good morning:wave:
Not doing a great job at keeping up at the moment... Lots going on at the moment... With it also being the school holidays its making things even more complicated...
Today I feel like a swan, but slowly sinking:(
We need to get school uniform sorted too... Haven't used my t home panels? I think... Yet so that's on my weekend list, also shoes from Clarks I too have to echo other posts, my DD has always had Clark's school shoes, one pair do last her a full school year.0 -

I was once £200 in credit about Oct time; EDF said that due to upcoming winter my usage would go up and therefore, they couldn't credit the money back to my bank account.
I did try and explain that I was overpaying by 50% during the Spring/Summer months and that this should easily cover the Autumn/Winter months (based on previous 3 years); but they still didn't budge.
Lo and behold, I had £330 credit in my account the following April.
I was  because I could have earned 5% interest on that money for those 6 month. Only a few quid but still...

If you are in credit can they refuse to give it back? I thought the regulator had warned them about this?
