Happy Birthday aau and logie :bdaycake::bdaycake:
Hope you both have a great day x
Good morning Elite :hello:
Sunny but breezy here in Suffolk. Just popped in quickly as off shopping with ds1 soon. He is a muggle shopper and will never change his ways  no matter how often I try to tell him, he says he hasn't time to .anny around going shop to shop , oh well his choice and he is the one missing out
On the subject of children's shoes, I have to say that although Clarkes can be expensive, they are well worth it as I always bought Clarkes for my boys and they lasted well. You can find them in sales often so saving a there. Also as someone mentioned eBay, it's surprising the number of people who have bought them and then put them en eBay, never been worn. So do look there too.
Sorry I didn't get back here last night, after Emmerdale I had a phone call, lasted an hour. Went to get a coffee and sat down with ipad to come on here and fell asleep  due to the swapping around of my meds, sorry.
Will have a quick scoot back and start a catch up whilst I wait for ds1 to arrive, then see you after lunch at some point
Have to agree with the shoes. We have an Clarks 'outlet' shop here which is slightly cheaper but not by a huge amount. I only buy the kids one pair of school shoes a year and they last all year. They were around £25 a pair at the outlet place so in the grand scheme of things, not too bad. DS2 also needs Velcro as opposed to laces and it's getting more difficult as his feet get bigger to find them. I was shocked to learn yesterday he's now a size 5 and a half
Today Ive got to go and get the school trousers and PE kits.........that makes the shoes look cheap0 -

You can switch at this stage. Just select the option of 'I don't have a debit card' when completing the online switch form.
The monthly £5 reward from Halifax can only be received if you pay in £750/month (and can be paid out immediately) AND have 2 x DDs leaving your account per month. I have a Tesco Instant Access and Saver account where a DD from each account was set up for £1.
Hi Karlie
What are these DD'S you got set up please? I opened the Halifax reward account last year but struggled to find small DD's to switch to it as I prefer to keep my main DD's together in one account.0 -
Your comment was partly aimed at me; so I think it would be fair to reply.
It has been stated that applying for current accounts can have implications on your credit score; hence, people are advised to spread applications across a period of time. Advice has also been given re: checking your credit score for free via Noddle at regular intervals.
People can make informed decisions based on this.
Credit searches are also made when applying for new mobile phone contracts, broadband contracts, landline contracts, switching gas and electricity supplier, applying for credit cards, financing cars, mortgages and even when doing a Go Compare/Confused.com insurance search for £2 cashback! I don't see any of us giving warnings to these.
As mentioned, as long as applications are spread across over a period of a few months AND you keep an eye on your credit file once per month with no negative impact then I don't see why people shouldn't apply.
My comment wasn't aimed at anyone specific, more a pointer for people to check websites for themselves for simple T&Cs and requirements. Some of the questions asked clearly show that some are not looking where they should which makes me think that not all the decisions are that well informed as incentives are clouding the issue.
However, I do think that advising others without knowing of their financial status/history is somewhat naive, after all this is why FSAs are regulated and why you as a doctor should understand that. I'm sure you'd never advise a patient to obtain information about health matters from an online forum
Noddle would be the last place anyone should keep an eye on, it's information is unreliable and frequently out of date as is Call Credit, it's sister company. Not all agencies hold the same info, the vast majority of lenders will use either Experian or Equifax and people should look at those sites, then the others. Which lender uses who can be found with a quick google search.
I would advise anyone/everyone to obtain reports from all on an annual basis, in most cases this can be done FOC or at worst by paying the £2 statutory fee.
Searches for some of those listed above are SOFT searches which differ from FULL searches as carried out when applying for Credit/Bank Accounts, Finance or Mortgages. Soft searches are not visible to all, will not affect your credit record whereas full searches are and will.
It's an extremley complicated business and should not be taken lighlty as it appears here. There are hundreds of factors taken into consideration which most will not be aware of, hence why many run into problems a few months/years later and why debt is so high in the UK.
EDIT : Just to add, I've made my point and will leave it at that....back to glitching.0 -
Also, I'd like to point out that we're all grown ups.
And it's a bit insulting to suggest that because we're asking questions, we're not then properly reading websites afterwards or looking at terms and conditions.
I do know that Karlie's not Obi-Wan Kenobi. She doesn't have a light sabre for a start
Karlie might not,but I do:rotfl:

These accounts allow you to set up DDs for small amounts. I have 1 DD for each Tesco account; they then appear as 2 different DD mandates on my Halifax Reward current account. I've got mine set up for £1 on a monthly basis. I then transfer £750 over and out (via standing order)....free £5 every month.

Yes, you can do that.
Although M&S Bank are a little slower and you probably need to put in about 30 - 45 minutes effort to get your £100 gift card...unless you earn £100+ per hour...
Apply online for their current account; wait a day to be accepted/rejected. If accepted, they'll send you a form to sign. You send it back, a few days later you'll get your debit card and PIN. You then ring them up to let them know you want to switch. You then get confirmation a few days letter via post of your switch, you then phone them again to 100% confirm the switch, and at this point, the switching process starts. You should get your gift card within 1 month of the switch completion date.
By no means as quick as Halifax, but as mentioned, worth it for a £100 Gift Card for less than 60 minutes work.
I'll wait for the card to arrive then it's goodbye Halifax, hello M&S GCI Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -

even sadder that he hid it so well and worked to such a high standard.
My OH was offered a job recently.....only 2 days a week, no pressure, a nominal wage and he won't take itwe don't need the money and that didn't come in to it. He won't take the job because he has no belief in himself
. It's sad.....he used to command troops in a war situation and he hasn't the confidence to take a job doing something he's really good at
it's despairing
I feel for you.You must feel so helpless and frustrated dealing with an illness that you can't see.Don't let sleep deprivation leave you in a situation where you can't cope.0 -
I also have a light sabre but I only use it for the purpose of good not evil
(I won it in a competition, very good stress relief on dark nights to go out in the paddock and wave it around)
