well I've done it - its let me open another Flexaccount and I have an account number and sort code.

Just have to figure out the Halifax rules and regs now - can I switch even at this stage without any paperwork or plastic card?

This Halifax one I need to put £1 k in each month and I can then remove it straight away and keep the £5 a month bonus?

Mind you not a lot will be done today, next door has the builder in yet again tapping on the living room wall, sounds like yet more plaster coming off so I wont be on the computer for long. The garden is full of fencing panels and boards etc so I cant even escape outside :D

You can switch at this stage. Just select the option of 'I don't have a debit card' when completing the online switch form.

The monthly £5 reward from Halifax can only be received if you pay in £750/month (and can be paid out immediately ;)) AND have 2 x DDs leaving your account per month. I have a Tesco Instant Access and Saver account where a DD from each account was set up for £1.

    ;)

Interesting discussion started on the radio about keeping secrets from the partners - how long people have kept secrets from their OHs and what things they keep secret and why

Which banks do you have online access with? Apart from Halifax.

I only have 3 bank accounts, all with LloydsTSB, one is a current account, one a savings account and one an online account.

Prefebably i would prefer to keep all these 3 accounts as they are, i just need to open a new account somewhere else to then switch it to the Halifax to earn £100.

Can you reccommend a quick easy account which i can open online for this purpose please?

Just a word of caution on opening current accounts - only do this if your credit reference can take it, and don't go mad opening them if you are planning on applying for a mortgage as it may affect your chances (I don't know what effect it has but better to be safe than sorry!).

Other than that, it would be rude not to take up their offers :).

I'm quite staggered how people here are taking financial 'advice' and jumping on the bandwagon of obtaining incentives without seemingly knowing the true effects of what they are doing and the effect this will have on their ratings.

Questions are being asked here of complete strangers, answers are provided, albeit probably correctly and in good faith, but it seems some people are relying on this info when ALL the info readily available on the respective institutions websites.
If something goes as unexpected would the defence be...well someone on the internet told me, I didn't look at the website or begin to think the effect it may have with the CRAs.

I would URGE people to seriously think before opting for these incentives. SOME people have the ability to do this with little effect to their record because they have impeccable records, but the majority don't and these applications will impact their records and possibly quite severley if considering mortgage applications in the next 12 months.
  • Does anyone know where I can get 20+ cheap stackable chairs within the next week (not me, OH suddenly decided badminton club need them for next weekend's visit by German exchange club!) please? Checked Ebay, too far for collection. Going to suggest stools from Argos but don't think they will be ideal!

Would prefer for them to be delivered!
