I've found my kids manage to trash them within a few months.
The last pair we had split on the sole underneath within a couple of months.
You get what you pay for I suppose, DS1 has been through 3 pairs of cheap shoes in the last year, I'd have been better off buying one expensive pair from clarks, his last pair of bootlegs (bought from brantanos) lasted the longest out of any shoes he's had.
Thanks , I was thinking just to buy the more expensive one.
Can't save money there the !!!0 -

I forgot about my claim to fame from yesterday!
It's not gonna beat supermarket sweep right enough....
but I did make coffee for.....
The radio 2 legend that is Ken Bruce :rotfl:
My claim to fame is that John Peel drove all the way from his house down south to our house, had coffee with us and then did his interview with my OH in our loft.
This was for a radio 4 programme and we got a cheque as well :T“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

People probably think I have zilch dress sense as I'm nearly always seen wearing black trousers, a top and trainers (I have big feet so they're comfiest!)
But I'm happy and most of the time don't care what people think about how I lookHistoric Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000
Saving for Xmas 2022= . . Amazon £55

I really don't want to stop him having fun. I am wondering what the draw is - travelling and Japan or a new set of mates to replace his UK mates. There is a girl but she's strictly a mate and I think he realises this.
What I don't want is payday to come around and he knows there is a big credit card bill to be paid mid month and then after living expenses more or less everything else is accounted for or spent and there are another 28 days to go.
28 days of every month and numerous sleepiness nights worrying about money is no fun - I think I've spent the most part of my adult life worrying as I imagine most people have and it is no fun.
Well I've had a response to the message I sent him yesterday and it was a thumbs up - that was it
So we are still at the him spending and me worrying stage.mutley_muppet wrote: »I can see you are trying to look out for him, but saving/ finances aren't always a priority for younger people. Maybe just have a quiet word and encourage him to keep an eye on his spending? Other than that all you can do is be there for him if he does end up broke?
But many of us have been broke and lived to tell the tale.
Travel is addictive. Given the money and the freedom I would travel all the time. Maybe he has decided to work to live rather than living to work, and this is the way he has decided to enjoy himself.
Then again, maybe he needs for payday to come round and for everything to be accounted for to make him realise what he is doing.
Either way, you cannot know what is in his mind, why he is doing this.
If he has nothing else why not have a little fun! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Another one here that does not wear makeup, although I have to get my hair cut (going today but hate it) because I have to keep it short, if not it turns into a bush. I mostly wear jeans and a top, and I wear trainers because I have a high instep and it is easiest to wear trainers, but they have to have good padding too.
I can dress up, I have a made to measure silk dress in the wardrobe, and a couple of other silk dresses, and I have some fantastic jewellery, I can look quite elegant if the event requires it, but do not quite feel comfortable like that :eek:What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

I have a few dresses (all bought in sales) that I will wear if needed to for an event and I also own a couple of pairs of heels but the minute I'm sat down at a table the heels will be off and I'll sneakily be sitting there bare foot
I'd rather be comfy being who I am, than uncomfy trying to be who I'm not
I remember at my friends wedding she hated dressing up, under her wedding dress she had a pair of black DMs on :rotfl:Historic Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
