I think you were very patient with them. I would have invited them around to see that the place was unoccupied and unliveable and also written to them with photots.
Did you have the 6 months without paying council tax or was this extended?
I did indeed invite them round many times which they declined hence making it even more annoying that when it suited them because they thought we were fiddling the electric they insisted inspections....I even put them in contact with the named contacts at the council to clarify
It was an uninhabitable property to begin with and luckily we were on a 12 month exemption for council tax so that eased the finances a little during renovation...
During that time I lost count of the number of inspections we had from building control, council tax officers, town planners etc...After our 12 month exemption ran out we went onto full coucil tax because of the rule changes...but by that time most of the work was done....
I think we were just short of 17 months in total before we then secured tenants for the property.

I have a question to ask if I may...
Some of you may remember that a the beginning of the week we were completing on a new BTL flat....
Yay we now have it but I'm a little perplexed with all things key meter on the electric.......Never used one before so a total novice...
May I ask those on the elite who have used key meters...
How do you fill up the key ....I assume I need to take it somewhere possibly a pay point retailer.....thats fine theres one of those near....but how do I PAY FOR IT ....is it something that is only cash or possibly debit card or can I top up using my credit card???
Work starts tomorrow so plenty of painting etc....but at the moment we dont have any electric...the new supplier has sent me a key so thats all sorted.
Thanks in advance if anyone can reply!!!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Just take the key to any PAYPOINT shop and tell them how much you want on it. Glad to hear the completion all went through in the end, despite a few issues along the way!
I assumed you'd be able to top up using any form of payment as it's a paypoint thingy in a corner shop or post office, which usually accept credit cards and debit cards, but then I read this link which mentions cash... http://www.paypoint.co.uk/customers/meter-prepayment
Happy birthday to AAU and Logie:beer:
Thanks to bubbs by the way for mentioning the £1.99 prawns in M, they weren't listed on 'tinterweb but I found them on my long and winding trip around the storeDH will be very happy, £1.99 mussels in white wine sauce and £1.99 peeled and cooked king prawns, so £2ish for both in the end! No steak worth buying unfortunately but I'm sure there's some left over from T Orchard coupons at the bottom of the freezer if I look hard enough :rotfl:

Anyone with O2 priority moments who has a "fragrance shop" near them. There is £35 off Diane von furstenburg 50ml perfume at the mo, priced at £46.50 so £11.50 afterwards.
Excellent price.
