If you are in credit can they refuse to give it back? I thought the regulator had warned them about this?

You're another one! You have a happy and satisfied life.....that's obvious :) there's absolutely nothing wrong with being happy and comfortable with who you are and how your life is. You have a hubby who loves you, kids who adore you. They see the beauty in you....what more do you need?
I love it that we have all had such different lives here, but when you strip all the superficial stuff back, we are all the same and the same things make us all happy :)
:A fc you say such lovely things xx

    Thanks Tweets for house wishes.

:) Off soon on the train up the coast to view.

I've found loads of photos from many years ago on the internet of the house :)

Interesting to see the changes that have been made to it.

Our only 'threat' is coastal erosion. It seems in 2055 the village will be gone  but then so will we :o
if its where i think the village with a railway, that is such a nice place, have stayed there with friends hope you love the house and enjoy your trip xxx

Well I'm not planning on a morgage (probably ever!) and not planning any credit applications for at least 18 months, so it's ok for me to try to get these incentives now :)

You don't need to justify yourself fuzzgun. You know your finances best so you're the best and only person who can make that decision.

    Catch ya all later.

I'm quite staggered how people here are taking financial 'advice' and jumping on the bandwagon of obtaining incentives without seemingly knowing the true effects of what they are doing and the effect this will have on their ratings.

Questions are being asked here of complete strangers, answers are provided, albeit probably correctly and in good faith, but it seems some people are relying on this info when ALL the info readily available on the respective institutions websites.
If something goes as unexpected would the defence be...well someone on the internet told me, I didn't look at the website or begin to think the effect it may have with the CRAs.

I would URGE people to seriously think before opting for these incentives. SOME people have the ability to do this with little effect to their record because they have impeccable records, but the majority don't and these applications will impact their records and possibly quite severley if considering mortgage applications in the next 12 months.

hi i have numerous credit cards and bank accounts. If you are thinking of opening accounts, it is fair to say when the banks look into your accounts they may ask questions.

My mortgage broker had to explain to the bank that even though i have lots of credit my accounts demonstrate that i do pay and never miss any payment.

    You must be really organised.

I think its a case of they cant refuse to give it back...but they dont like to make it easy...

a couple of years ago we renovated a property so were not living there and only visiting to carry out work...however we still had to pay the "average monthly payment for a property of that size" according to our supplier...que a £60 per month electric DD...
After 6 months we were well in credit but told that because winter approached the usage was going to be higher...our reply being "yes on a standard property...but not this one because we are not living there"...

after 12 months we had used around £40 of electricity...at which point we asked for the overspill back and they really dug their heels in..even insisting to send someone round to check the meter was functioning correctly...
I dug my heel in back and took the complaint as high as I could, mainly because we had been so upfront about our minimal electric usage and had repeatedly asked for the DD to be lowered...
the upshot was that after 16 months the overspill was refunded together with an inconvenience payment of £100...
Worked out that potentially we had more than the value of the electricty usage refunded...but at the time we were doing the refurb it would have been nicer to have had the extra money in our account to use towards refurbishment cost rather than give the electricity company the use of it
In total I think we almost reached £900 in overpayment....

see people are on the dreaded school shoes hunt, my ds3 wrecks shoes, expensive or cheap all last 6 months, this year he was ordering a snorkelling set with flippers, from sports direct, ( instead of spending £40 on alton towers school trip.) and he used my debit card, parcel arrived, Snorkelling set, school shoes, trainers, tennis balls, socks and a pair of trainers for his big brother  i was worried how much he had spent, looked at the bill £40.50 for everything :D:D so one less job for me and quite a bit saved..

I think you were very patient with them. I would have invited them around to see that the place was unoccupied and unliveable and also written to them with photots.

Did you have the 6 months without paying council tax or was this extended?

Mostly we do our own research and make our own minds up as to weather something is suitable for us and at this point we just need confirmation that we have not missed a vital point in the rules and regs :)

I agree with this too... Bank accounts, 3v card, Asda HD , Asda CnC, apg shops, top cash back, yada yada; there is tonnes of info on this forum. Whether peeps chose to partake is up to them, but everybody should do a little leg work too. That maybe checking msm pre shopping, check terms and conditions, etc.

If someone said jump off a cliff, would you just go and jump? I'd like to think not.
