So lie to the police and waste their time then? They also wouldn't raid the house just on this phone call, anyone could ring up and make such a claim.
In all honestly the police will probably do very little. They might send someone round to talk to them but it's unlikely your neighbours will bother opening the door. There is no way a judge will rule raiding a house for a personal amount of cannabis so in all honesty they probably won't do anything at all.
Do you know who owns the property?0 -
You can talk to the police anyway and they wont pass your name on at all. They are bound by confidentiality. They did this with me when I had some information about a man that was murdered.0

It's false complaints like you mention that mean much intel isn't and cannot be acted on. People make false reports all too often so before taking any action intel has to be evaluated and graded. Low quality intel or intel that is suspected of being false/malicious will not be acted upon unless it is corroborated. If you think that a house will be raided on the back of a single, unsubstantiated complaint alleging suspicious activity you are deluded. It is very irresponsible to advocate making false complaints. It's idiots making false complaints that make it difficult for enforcement authorities to get warrants based on intel. Well done.
OP - you can complain either to the police or to crimestoppers, but you should keep your complaint factual and truthful. The police can take action if crimes happen on private property. Possession of cannabis is a crime.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
I agree with lika_86 your neighbours will just put 2 and 2 together and will know your have complained to crime stoppers / police.
They already show they don't care about you or your children so I cant see them stopping at time soon.
If it was me id move, as you say your landlord doesn't care so Im guessing your renting? hopefully your not signed to a long lease.
Just be careful about the situation getting worse from your neighbours who may make your life worse.0 -
Do you know if the neighbours' house is rented or privately owned? If rented, you could complain to their landlord that they are causing nuisance.Signature removed for peace of mind0

My neighbours son just moved back with him, goodness only knows what hes smoking but it is the strongest cannibis smell and other weird smells! It got to the point today we couldn't even open our windows as the smell was all over our home! Hubby went round, had a word and the smell has instantly stopped!
I called 101 to get advice, they said to try and be polite and ask them to stop, if that failed they would pay them a visit, as we have young children, and they are endangering their health as well as breaking the law!0 -
When I lived in student housing this was such an issue ! I doubt the police will do anything about it though.
I'd try and find out if it was owned or rented.0 -
Id be surpised if anything happens. Have you contacted anyone yet? Do you have a noise/nuisance team at the local authority? Worth a try.0

I doubt the police will do a lot, if they come round the people will deny it, and they're hardly going to bust the door down for a casual smoker
would it be such a problem if it was just cigarette smoke?0 -
I sympathise as we had a similar situation and it was difficult to know what to do. We were renting and moved on eventually (we weren't planning to stay long in that area so the move was already planned).
I know people are saying here the police won't take it seriously but you have young children. I'd emphasise that - if you decide to contact the police (I know it won't be easy if you don't want difficult relations with your neighbours).0
