As the DH has been spending more time visiting his mum, we haven't had much time spent together over the last few months so when he got back tonight we decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway and switch off the TV.

The day just got away with me spent from 2pm until 2am in the kitchen first putting away the food shop and then making jams for christmas hampers. Still have quite a few jams, marmalades and chutneys to make so this week is going to be quite exhausting but once they are done I can relax.

How have you been getting on?
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • I am so glad to see the back of 2015 it really had been a crap*y year. Th deaths of 2 close relatives, numerous family dramas, my mums home got destroyed in the Carlisle flooding (luckily no one was hurt but they lost everything downstairs) and to top it all off now my oven has broken. For the first time in 6 years I actually have ready meals in my fridge :( hopefully the landlord can get it replaced asap as we only have a microwave and a slow cooker to cook with. I completely forgot we owned the slow cooker until after the ready meals had been bought but hey ho. If it takes longer than a week then I will utilise the slow cooker.

I will also be starting my allergy testing so you will notice a lot of white refined foods and dairy in my food diary for the next two weeks. I will be keeping up with my exercise and have already written out a schedule for January, I will be weighing myself tomorrow as I know I put on weight over Christmas so now its damage control. But I enjoyed myself so I have no regrets. :D

Sorry that turned into a bit of an essay.

  • Happy New Year FT:j

I am sorry to read you have had a rubbish 2015 - i hope 2016 is a much better year for you. :)

I have been eating clean ( and stopped consuming sugar - well as much as i can do ) for some time now, and have lost 2 stone by doing so. I changed from buying everything low fat to full fat - so i only buy greek yogurt ( fage) these days, full fat cheese, full fat milk (although i only use cows milk in tea/coffee - for porridge and cooking i use either alpro unsweetened milk or the alpro coconut milk ). I have proper unsalted butter on my toast too (nom nom).

I also have tried not to be too rigid about eating ( ie when i go to someones house and they use a jar of sauce i eat it ) but its been hard to break the thought of good/bad foods. I have tried to change my view that food is good and tried not to feel guilty if i have a drink or a peice of cake sneaks past my lips. I have ( and still do) find this train of thought to break. It has become easier though since i have noticed that i am grumpy/bloated if i eat anything overly sugary. :(
