  • My body is calling out for real food. So tonight I am going to try cooking burgers in the slow cooker & the grill in the microwave. With loads of veggies on the side. My next months worth of shopping turns up Saturday and I can also order my new oven. I don't understand how people can live off ready meals. :(

It was so good to have real food. It took ages using the little grill function in the microwave but it was so worth the wait. I miss cooking.
It's now not certain if the landlord will be renewing our tenancy (the estate agents are acting cagey) so we won't be replacing the oven until we know that we are signing another 12 months. I have bought more joints/cuts that can go into the slow cooker and I have invested in some micro steamer bags. My food diary should be better next month.

I think that 1651 calories is a very conservative estimate, I would say that was well over 2000.

Thanks, I will keep an eye on that. I use MFP, and I use the barcode function to try to get accurate servings. The only thing on this day that wasn't weighed was the banana, pate and the burgers (these were homemade so was working off how many rough serving sizes divided by ingredients) but I get your point. To be honest I don't take the figure as gospel, I just use it as a rough guide as nothing is 100% accurate.

  • Hello, I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread, I've been reading for quite a while but never commented!

I can't help but think your diet is really not great for someone wanting to lose weight! Lots of pasta, bread, bagels, wraps, chips, pies... nearly every day. Where are all the vegetables, fish and meat (not just burgers!). I agree with the other commenter above that I think your calorie estimates are on the low side..

Obviously you can completely ignore me, but I'm reading your diary thinking you're less active than me, yet eating a lot more 'stodgy' stuff than I ever would

I hope this doesn't cause offense!
  • Lovehackney,

This doesn't cause offence, I welcome any help I can get. To be honest it hasn't helped that I haven't had an oven since the 30th December and I am struggling with just a slow cooker and a microwave. Our landlord has flat out refused to replace it as we are in an unfurnished property, we could replace it ourselves but we are not far from the end of our tenancy and it's a bit up in the air about whether the landlord will want to renew for another year (we don't want to replace it to be told we need to move in a month). I have bought some joints of meat to cook in the slow cooker so I'm hoping that my diet should start improving as I have missed my healthy food. I bought a egg poacher and steam bags for use in the microwave today so I can start having my morning eggs and fish again.
I use MFP to log all my calories I thought they were pretty close, I would post pictures of my meals if they wouldn't clog up the thread too much.
