  • This may sound like a stupid question but how do I increase my calorie intake while reducing portions?

I know that I can have butter, cream & cheese so I could add some more of these while cooking. I also need to add more vegetables and reduce my hidden sugars. I may just have answered my question?

Well yes, definitely look out for sugars, basically if you cant pronounce something on a label, dont buy it. Id have cheese in moderation but definitely if you are having dairy its better to have full fat and not low fat (when fat is removed sugar is often added back in)

Dont worry about the odd stock cube etc, but the less processed stuff, white carbs and sugar you have the better. Plus you really do need to eat to keep your metabolism ticking over.

Brilliant, thanks. Will slowly work this out of my diet and out of my cupboards. October's shopping list will be interesting, but much healthier.

By October I also hope to have replaced most of my white potatoes with sweet potatoes. I have already switched successfully from white pasta and rice to brown. I have also cut milk from my diet due to high lactose content.

Definitely starting to feel much better than I ever was on slimming world.

  • Saw this on the BBC today about sugar.

I don't know why they just can't ban the companies from using added sugars in their products like they do with certain E numbers.

  • A few things I have learnt over the last 2 days.

    - Manufactuers packets serving suggestion can be too big. Brown rice I served yesterday was according to packet instructions and I couldn't eat it all so next time will reduce this by half. Means I will have more room on the plate for veggies.
    - How much my body loves a good workout session. Did my exercise DVD last night and although it was tough, this morning my skin feels amazing and I feel so energetic if not a tad sore.

I am hoping I have done enough this week to see some results on the scales/tape measure tomorrow.
