Piglet to Gazelle - My weight loss journey

Someone has brought in 3 multi-packs of doughnuts into the office. As having to resist the various bits of chocolate and biscuits were not enough.
Before I started this new lifestyle I would not have thought twice about going to our "cafe" and grabbing two maybe three items in one day. Now I am trying to be more conscious about what I eat and it feels like at every turn it is another temptation. My sweet cravings are getting really quite bad I try to have a coffee or a piece or fruit but it's not quite the same.
I know that if I resist gradually the cravings will dissipate but it is such a pain.
On the plus side my junk food cravings are getting easier to ignore. That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

Had the weirdest dream last night.
Was out at a work function where we had a cream tea. Gorged myself on 2 jam doughnuts, a jam tart, cherry bakewell and an iced bun. Even in the dream I was conscious of eating them as quickly as I could walking around the room so people didn't realise how many cakes I had taken. Then felt so guilty after consuming them. Basically I had a binge session followed by guilt and remorse. This would have been my usual MO. So glad I am climbing my way out of this vicious cycle. That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

You are making positive changes, but are you logging your portion sizes. Im sure you said you were before. You said previously that you were trying to cut down to one carb meal a week. Theres no need to cut out carbs as long as they are good carbs.
Also, Im aware there are health reasons why the scales might not move downwards v quickly and thats ok, but how much weight have you lost and how many inches?
If nothing is moving you are going to have to up your exercise and tweak your food intake and choices.

Loving your diary! keep up the good work.
Can i please ask where you bought your pedometer? and was it very expensive.

weigh in this morning.
I haven't lost any this week although have lost 1/2 in most of my measurements.
11st 7lb. I have invested in a more accurate set of scales.
I am suffering a little from "low-carb flu" hopefully my body will adjust over the next few days. Now I remember why I haven't persevered with low carb before as I hit this wall and get really bunged up (I haven't 'been' since Tuesday afternoon it's now Thursday) and it would have me reaching for loads of carbs to help things along so to speak.
I am determined to give low carb a shot this time as I know high carb doesn't work for me.That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

I have lost 5 lbs in total so far and lost 3" from each measurement on average.
I will be reducing it very slowly over the course of about 6 months or so to give myself time to adjust. At the moment I'm still getting used to 1 carb meal a day. I might even get down to that and find that I really don't like eating that little carbs and slowly reintroduce just experimenting and finding a happy medium. Although I know for certain I will probably never go back to eating carbs at every meal.
My calories tend to range from 1150 - 1618 so I am not being really strict with my calorie intake at the moment just trying to focus on eating right things. If I am hungry I will eat if not them I won't force myself from what I have read then I shouldn't need to really watch my calories as my appetite will decrease and calories will atomatically reduce themselves. I still measure portions and note down my calories intake via MFP as this is just habit for me now.
It also helps me work out my daily carb intake which I am trying to keep within 50-150g a day. That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

Thanks and welcome.
I got my pedometer from Argos for £15. It was more than I have ever spent on a pedometer before but the extra money has been really worth it. It hasn't fallen of my waist band once so it is very secure and it isn't so sensitive that you go up stairs and it jumps up 10 steps.

Fruit and veg still has carbs so even people doing clean eating like Paleo will still be eating carbohydrate. I eat more protein than carbs but I still eat carbs and Ive never had an issue of being bunged up.
Stuff like leafy green veg, Id say increase that, kale, broccoli. Even adding spices and some chilli to certain meals.
Its possible to still be regular as it were without eating bread, potatoes.0 -

I think it's just my body adjusting to not eating a diet primarily based in carbs and it should readjust itself in a day or so. I have some savoy cabbage in the fridge and will pick up some broccoli hopefully this will help.
I am starting to feel much better already though, it's really nice not to feel so tired in the afternoons. It's also so much easier not being so stressed about what I eat all the time. It just takes some forethought even on takeaway and restaurant menus there is something you can have that fits into this.
I would recommend that people give this a read. It really opened my eyes to what I was doing to myself. I could relate to everything food wise. It really was a vicious cycle of binge eating followed by guilt then remorse and vowing never to do it again. Then a few days later it does.
