You cannot cancel out an offence, by complying with the law, after having being caught committing the offence.
Yes being caught and asked to get a licence, therefore the Licence was got "if you dont get a licence, you can be taken to court" a licence was got and still taken to court. Therefore If an offence was committed then is should be punishable yes, but the option the option was given at the time to get a licence, which was got so how does the crime still stand?0 -

Im intrigued by your campaign? What is it? Giot maybe help expand it
My " campaign " as you put it is TVL think they above the law by the way they treat ANYONE that doesn't pay up front for their license
They send out ever increasing aggressive letters And as you've found out they DO end up taking it to court in the main without you knowing as you found out
Im am of the same sort of mind IF I think I'm right I will fight tooth and nail With many successes
It's just a shame this thread has been hijacked by all sorts of people with varying views and many are unlike me NOT talking from experience
Good luck with your battle I would put my email on here for you to let me know how you get on But I do know that's a dangerous move :rotfl: Just have to let you put a post on here WHEN not IF you get it sorted :-)0 -
Don't be ridiculous.
^^ This!
Actually yet again YOUR being ridicules
When TVL told his partner she needed a licence or else They went out and got one The problem as I see it The licence was got in HIS name NOT hers as the way I read it But when TVL were told as far as I can see the action against her should have been canceled0 -

The law requires you to pay up front for your TV licence, if you require one. How are they acting above the law?
Are the DVLA also acting above the law by requiring me to pay my VED up front? Why wont they let me make up my own payment rules and pay monthly whatever I think I should be paying, that's what I want to know! How totally outrageous of them. It's just a shame this thread has been hijacked by all sorts of people with varying views

Actually your WRONG even TVL say when they find " your breaking the law " they first advise you to get a licence as it seems he DID the so called crime IS then cancelled Or should have been As I've already said I think the problem was The lack of licence was done in her name and the licence was bought in his name :-)0 -
The " letter I signed " had PRINTED on it " if I did not sign it they WILL start court action Unlike so many people in the uk I DONT sign ANYTHING without reading first
I'm the one that read it and I DONT sign things if I don't want toMy point exactly they work on intimidation As to how they detect as I said they now have hand held machines I'm in a block of flats and they came to my door Made me sign a document saying I had just moved in and was getting a licence
So you have said "made me sign" but, you "dont sign things if i done want to"...
then why did you sign it, if someone MADE you sign, then you cant have wanted to, so why did you ....
if your actions on this forum reflect the way you dealt with the TVL, I dont find it at all surprising that you are in the situation you seem to be.0 -

I'm afraid not.
The TVL178 interview form contains the following note.He never specified, you must get one in your name, nor you cant get the family member who pays the bills to get one.
That's because you can get one in someone else's name.
However, you do need to obtain one BEFORE you watch/record live TV, which is something murphyb007's partner elected not to do.they got what they set out for, A TV Licence at that address. What more do they want!
They probably want people to buy a licence before (rather than after) watching/recording live TV, in much the same way the police and DVLA want people to buy insurance and Road tax before (rather than after) driving on the public road.0 -

Starting 6 months before it's due

The car tax as you put it is paid up front when it is due Or you can opt to pay in two six month payments But again from the day it starts NOT 6 months in advance of the day it starts

The advice to buy a licence is not an either/or option.
As stated on the TVL178 interview form, buying a licence does not remove the option for them to prosecute.which was got so how does the crime still stand?
Because the offence was committed when live TV was watched/recorded without a licence.0 -

Your notes hold the clue in at least two places and that is the word " MAY " This is used in my view as a threat that works I doubt except in a few circumstances Murphys being one they never take it further if a current licence is in place directly after the visit as I suspect happened in Murphys case0
