They do charge a £1.50 (or thereabouts) quarterly service charge though.

£1-25 actually, adding up to an extra £5 per year.

Hooray! The thread has been moved.

That'll be the end of this thread now, because the OP will never find it again once the forwarder has dropped off the first page of the credit cards board.

But all of those things are related entirely to the dodgy way you're trying to pay your bill.

It's like insurance, you pay 12 months up front. If you don't want to pay up front you can take out a loan via the insurance company and pay extra for the privilege.

If you just signed up for the normal direct debit mechanism, then you'd pay only 6 months upfront rather than 12. Isn't that better? And you wouldn't get any letters at all, threatening or otherwise.

Like many on here you really don't get it
There is NOTHING DODGY about paying by payment card many thousands do as like me have limited funds
    I've already covered DD above
The main issue that has got lost amongst all the rubbish is the AGGRESSIVE letters they are certainly not " dodgy " As already mentioned even the head of revenue management at the BBC agrees they are far to aggressive

The whole reason you're getting your knickers in a twist is because you're trying to pay using the direct debit scheme but don't want to follow the direct debit rules.

If you don't want to pay "six months in advance" then simply stop paying by direct debit and pay the full amount in advance instead, just like everyone did before the direct debit option was introduced.

Once you pay for your license in full, you'll hear nothing more from them until the month before your licence is due to expire at which point you can pay the full amount again. No threatening letters, nothing.

This post just shows how little some folk on here read but DONT inwardly digest what they are reading
I HAVE NEVER SAID IM PAYING OR TRYING TO PAY BY DIRECT DEBIT

As to no one being interested How come it's now at over 168 posting
As to me being " gullible idiot " I suggest your the idiot who thinks they can get away with NOT paying for a licence

It's only the law to have one, if you watch/record live TV broadcasts.

Stop watching live, and switch to Catchup, On Demand (eg. Netflix or Love Films), or watch VHS/DVD/Bluray, and you don't need one.

Your suggestion is fine but for one thing Your assuming everyone has an Internet connection Along with the required phone line ( that's another be in my bonnet )
The only Internet I have is via my mobile phone and I'm certainly not going to watch a tiny screen to avoid buying a TV license
Btw don't hold your breath I'm sure the BBC/ TVL will come up with a way of closing that loophole
  • BBC/TVL can't change the law.

    Only Parliament can do that.

And you think the BBC don't have the clout to persuade the government ? Especially as I've just come across a bit that suggests TVL debt collection company have some very close connections to the BBC and government

You need to read the thread - the rules for DD and Payment cards are the same. It's still 6 months in advance, 6 months in arrears. If you don't play by the rules, they are bound to react badly.

Presumably, they cancelled your licence, in which case you received the letters they send to unlicensed properties. Welcome to the club.

What does the amount of posts have to do with supporting your lame misinformative campaign? The majority of the posts are quite rightly against you.
I've already got away ALL my life without paying for a licence so yes I do get away with it easily. I'm not paying the corrupt criminal BBC for anything.

You're just peeved that you were gullible and stupid enough to get caught.
