And Bugslet
It didn't last long because so many on here seem to enjoy taking a pop at me or putting wrong info I might not have it right all the time
BUT I'm right regarding my original post
The TVL need to be stopped sending out ever increasing aggressive letters They even admit they do on their web site0 -
It's NOT the paying it's the way TVL treat a good many licence payers as criminals What happened to innocent until PROVEN Guilty ????0
-
It's a real shame folk on here do NOT read before they comment
Number 1 I have NEVER said I pay by DD I certainly would NOT give TVL access to my bank to take what they see fit ( before anyone shouts I know they are supposed to tell you what they are taking b4 they do ) I repeat SUPPOSED TO
I keep it in MY control by paying via a payment card
2 IF I had money to throw around I would pay in full
You might be one if the lucky ones
I'm fighting on behalf of the thousands on limited income like me
AND before anyone takes a pop at me
I've worked and paid my dues for 43 years without a break
Crikey, this just gets better.
So it turns out that you're not complaining about the existing direct debit scheme. But you are in fact complaining about them not liking and agreeing to your own personal payment scheme of your own devising.
As Cornucopia said, the licence was originally payable 12 months in advance only. You may remember parents/grandparents collecting TV licence stamps to save up for their licences. They don't exist now of course, but there's nothing stopping you opening a savings account with a bank and paying in £3 per week to cover bill you know will be due.
Turns out this is entirely down to a budgeting problem. Perhaps this thread should actually be on the "Banking and Budgeting" board.
But then if you don't like paying six months in advance, you're certainly not going to like paying 12 months in advance.0 -
How many times do I have to put on here Before folk get the message it is not and never has been to do with DD or anything else
For those that have trouble reading
IT is TWO things
ONE the aggressive nature of TVL letters
TWO Having to pay half up front and second half by 6 months before the end of that years licence
The best example I can give is if you bought something in a shop You would certainly not proceed if the shop said ok to deal but you've got to wait 6 months before you get it0 -

But all of those things are related entirely to the dodgy way you're trying to pay your bill.
It's like insurance, you pay 12 months up front. If you don't want to pay up front you can take out a loan via the insurance company and pay extra for the privilege.
If you just signed up for the normal direct debit mechanism, then you'd pay only 6 months upfront rather than 12. Isn't that better? And you wouldn't get any letters at all, threatening or otherwise.0 -
Linda this post has fallen into the cattogary of attack the writer May be you live in an area that doesn't get visits YET but belivie me they WILL catch up with you then we will see whos "the idiot " it's not a nice experience
All this thread was supposed to do is let others know about TVL tactics and to see how many have been stressed by thier aggresive letters
At present they have the FULL backing of the law unlike any other company that can only take you to the small claims court under £5000
So please STOP slagging me of and if your interested back my campaign
You're the one posting all this misinformation and rubbish. No-one is interested in backing the campaign of a gullible idiot.0 -
Hooray! The thread has been moved. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??
:coffee:0 -

Not sure who first mentioned DD. Apologies if it was me.
Not that it makes much difference - the rules of the Payment card scheme are basically the same. Pay 6 months in advance and 6 in arrears and all will be well.
Miss a payment or two and yes, they will come after you. They have a nasty habit of appointing a DCA called iQor, too. (They seem to choose arbitrarily between cancelling the licence and allowing the licence to run on, creating a debt).
"Innocent until proven guilty" is all very well and I wish it was intended to be the grand, all-encompassing thing that many people think it is. But... it only actually applies to court trials.0 -
