Better half of 2014 - all about me

So, I won't fill you in on why I'm starting this new diary - those who know know and those who are interested can read my previous diary but this is a shiny new diary to draw a line under the first half of this year and to start again

So, my goals:

1. To get fit and healthy. I will do this by (a) working out with a trainer (not very MSE but I enjoy it), (b) running and (c) eating better

2. To run a 10k, perhaps 2 by the end of the year. I will do this by a combination of running training and using my trainer for strength and conditioning

3. Try to look after myself. I will do this by combination of (1) and (2) above but also (a) staying away from men and (b) surrounding myself only with those I can trust and who make me feel good.

4. Try to be a better person. Not entirely sure how to achieve this but will give it a go

So, towards the above today I have (a) gone for my first run in about 3 months. Only managed about 22 minutes overall but a start, (b) had a protein shake for breakfast rather than a chocolate bar, (c) had chicken and salad for lunch, plenty of protein rather than carbs and also no chocolate post lunch, (d) had sweet potato and feta for dinner, slow release carbs. Have had a vitamin c tablet and about to have a multivitamin. I've also peeped to put some fake tan on because I always feel better with a little colour (as I'm so pale)

I've not slept in about 4 nights so tonight am going to listen to my sleep app in the hope I'll drift off.

My plan is to get up early tomorrow and wash and blow dry my hair properly, again so I look and feel good. And to be in the office by 8 so I can really give a good days work to my firm

Thanks bufster. Figure it's needed as much as I need to draw a line under the first part of this year

Have started watching the good wife. 90 episodes on net flicks. That will keep me busy after running as well as stopping me spending

Ok so although it took me about 2 hours to get off to sleep last night overall I slept better so that's good

Didn't make it in for 8 but will work through lunch/late to make sure I make full use of the day

Will not run tonight as last night was first night back and legs a little sore and have training 615am tomorrow so will give legs a break tonight and instead nip to WR and get a few more healthy things.

Had protein shake for breakfast and have chicken and salad for lunch again (bought two lots yesterday). Am also going to try to cut down on the coffee a bit today (I drink loads at work) and drink more water

Will try and get an early night tonight

    Thanks BB.

So, in pursuit of goals today I have eaten well (chicken and salad for lunch, 1 chocolate as so,some had brought some in and they were posh ones so rude not to, roasted butternut squash with chilli flakes and feta). I've also knocked up a batch of gluten free blueberry muffins so can have one of those mid morning tomorrow as finding the protein shake is not enough and I've got training tomorrow morning so will definitely not be enough. At least the muffin has limited calories and sugar and blueberries are always good for you. I've also taken my multivitamin and about to take my vitamin c

Work not been great simply because it's taking me ages to do what I need to do. I'm a bit scared I'm running out of time

Not sure I've done anything towards being a better person today - must try harder with that

Tonight I'm chilling out with "the good wife" and will then read my womens running magazine I've just bought to find some inspiration re my running. This weekend I have to look at where to add on as a holiday following NYC! Nice problem to have! Not very MSE but have been saving since start of year and this is my reward for the stress which has been work this year

Oh, I did do something nice today - told my big boss I was really glad I worked with them because it was like a family

    Thanks Bufster

Didn't sleep too badly last night

Had my 615am workout with trainer - jeez - not worked with him in about 3 months and legs killing from run on mon but no gently back into it - pushed me hard from the off! I do feel so good when I've finished with him though

So now is shower time, protein shake and get to work for 830. Would prefer to be there for 8, esp as have to take a good 40 mins out to go to doc today but when I got back from trainer I quickly sorted dishwasher and put a few things away so at least I come home to less chaos tonight. I will work late though then meeting one of my good friends husbands for a quick drink (no alcohol for me though) as he's been worried about me lately (he's the one who dragged me out Sunday and who gave me advice re the bloke and is generally a great friend)

Also saw my gsy best mate at trainer (as he has the session after mine) so I gave him one of my gluten free blueberry muffins - he loves that he gets baked goods from me at least fortnightly

I'm really trying to be positive and improve my life. Am hoping that I am able to feel 100% back to normal soon

So, those who are interested can read, on my previous thread, what has just happened. I do not want to contaminate my shiny new diary with it.

So, saw my friends husband and another friend last night. Unfortunately (as is usually the way with them!) I caved on the alcohol front and ended up basically having about a bottle of wine!

Had good chats though and enjoyed the night.

We went for pizza - so unhealthy on the dinner front but was good during the day.

Today has not been good as I didn't really sleep last night so didn't go for a run this morning. Have not had any food yet and bought in 2 slices of leftover pizza for lunch (eek!)

But will eat healthy tonight and try (if I get out of here on time) to go for a run this evening.

Am off to the big smoke tomorrow so will try to have a protein shake before I go and may take a gluten free muffin with me so as to avoid eating the (lovely!) biscuits which I know will be flowing at our morning meeting. I will then try to get some sort of healthy lunch on the go and am out to dinner with friends tomorrow night

So, the fitness and healthy eating thing really fell off track Wednesday! On Thursday I had 2 slices of left over pizza for lunch then in the evening one of my friends dragged me to a drinks thing so had 3 drinks and a Thai takeaway on the way home. To be fair the Thai is pretty healthy as was just chicken, veg and noodles. Yesterday was in the big smoke and so was a bit bad and had a biscuit in meeting then a croque Madame and a beer at cafe rouge! Then went out with friends for dinner and ate and drank loads and woke up,on friends sofa this morning and had to do walk of shame!!!!

I am also very annoyed at myself as I have somehow managed to lose £20 and no idea where. I only hope the person who has found it really needed it.

So today is a bit of a write off as hungover but am going to try to go to WR and get healthy food for the week and do some cleaning. I'm staying in tonight and having an early booze free night. I'm going to go for a run tomorrow morning then unfortunately have to work. I've got a 3 week trial starting in 2 weeks which is a really difficult technical civil case so the next 5 weeks are going to be a really hard slog and I have to get focused.

I'm worried because of my health but I think I'm going to get through it by getting up at 540 every day (nothing like a routine) and then getting a workout or a run done so that I can then stay in the office until late each night

So I guess I need to pick meals that I can take to work with me - maybe ill batch cook a healthy risotto or something - I have a great recipe for that and one for a curry which I can then freeze and take in each day and heat in microwave

Managed to stick pretty much to list in WR. Trying to avoid spending for rest of week as means could then pay car insurance. Get paid Friday so start of a new month and a new budget

Am really looking forward to getting out for a run in the morning. Tempted to go now but don't want to bump into drunk people having a night out
