  • Well done to everyone's who's had fantastic losses :D it's so motivating.

shala I won't be joining this challenge as I'm going in for major surgery in the 2nd week of October and I've also booked a week in Turkey just before that. I'll join the next one once I'm out of hospital! Is that ok?

Our hospital does jacket potatoes every day and if I get bored of them, I'll ask my family to bring some SW meals!
I know it's ages away, but does anyone have any tips for eating out in Turkey, please? :)

Today's been an ok day (EE):

    B: apple, banana, water
L: roast veg/cheese toastie (HEA/HEB, 2.5 syns for extra bread, half a syn for ketchup) with salad.
Snack: Worcester sauce crisps (I'm counting 8.5 syns :o )
D: fruit salad, 1 Linda McC sausage (2), SW chips, beans, Pepsi Max.

    Syns: 14

Shala I hope to get back to my target weight by the end of this challenge. That would be a loss of 11 lb .
Feeling a little bit better today.Still a bit flat, though.Thank you for everyone's lovely thoughts.

    Today's menu:
    B:apple,banana,
L: HM potato and leak soup,1 apple and a banana
T:chicken with SW gravy (recipe described here about a week ago),mashed potato, peas and corn
    Drinks:tea with skimmed milk
    Snacks:2 Alpen bars

I only started using skimmed milk for cups of tea today (have always used semi-skimmed).I have tried it before and always been able to taste the difference from semi-skimmed.There is also the needing to use more skimmed milk to get the colour of the tea right,so negating the benefit of saved syns. Not sure if my taste buds are becoming more numb or what, but today I couldn't taste the difference to using SS,so will stick to it,I think-as long as I remember to buy it.Wouldn't use it in cereal,or drink a cup of it,but it was fine in tea.

I also made the SW gravy for the first time tonight.I thought it was lovely,OH thought it was ok (loved the onions in it).The kids didn't mind a taste of it on the tip of a spoon-though did comment it tastes abit like Marmite. They were abit wary of actually having it poured on their food, and I don't think it was as appreciated by them as me.Looks like I will be making 2 different gravies for mealtime icon_rolleyes.gif

No problem, I'm going to Turkey in the last week in September. It'll be my second time this year. I just love the place.:)

Turkish breakfasts are fine for SW provided you avoid the bread! Typically they have plenty of tomatoes and cucumber and feta type cheese. Often there's fresh fruit too, usually melon. I always have my tea black in Turkey so happily have some of the cheese as HEA. My usual hotel also does unlimited boiled eggs. They do yogurt as well but not sure of fat content. When I was getting to target I took a pack of crispbread with me to have instead of the bread which is white, fresh and far too yummy!

For other meals there are masses of salads available. Fish is plentiful and basic shish kebabs tend to be small amounts of lean meat (generally lamb). They do lovely casseroles, probably some oil in them, but generally they taste very wholesome. Mezes are delightful but rather oil laden.

I love Turkish food but, as everywhere, there are usually some British dishes on the menus. Easy to have a steak or an omelette. I have found places doing jackets or new potatoes but that's not common.

I don't know what you like to drink. I'm not a fan of Turkish wine so I tend to have local gin & tonic. Sadly the resort I go to doesn't have diet tonic although I have seen some low cal drinks in supermarkets. You'll find yourself drinking masses of water, essential to keep yourself hydrated.

Now I'm at target I tend to go off plan on holiday but it is an easy country to eat healthily, especially vegetarian.

Have a great holiday when it comes.:)

Have decided I'm definitely not going to weigh today and will leave it until I come back from holiday - which will be a total of 4 weeks between WIs but as I'm at target I'm fine with that.

I come back on a Sunday so will have a few days to do a bit of damage limitation that week!

    Having a Green day today:

    B - 2 Alpen Lights; banana; pineapple
L - roasted veg couscous (roasted the veg last night whilst cooking the jerk chicken to save leccy)
D - HM vegetable curry & rice (from freezer)

    HEA - milk
    HEB1 - 2 Alpen Lights
    HEB2 - Ryvita

Syns - butter 5; fruit split lolly 3

Would have had some cheese (HEA2) with my Ryvitas tonight if I'd got any left! but certainly not going to buy any as going away tomorrow.

Really pleased to have used up enough food from freezers to be able to move some food from one to another so that I can turn one of the freezers off. Think I'm going to try to not refill the empty one and then sell it - it's only about a year or so old.

    Good morning all :)

Thanks blue_eyed_girl for the much needed kick!

Busy morning; I need to get pup some bits and wonder bairn and I need to go to Asda - we use going down the puree route of weaning to begin with but it won't be easy to make our own whilst on holiday (from Saturday for a little over a week) so I'm going to pick up a few jars; she is still on such small amounts that each jar does a couple of days so not so bad :)

Still amazed that 80+% of my baby weight is sitting on my behind/hips with 20% on my belly; surprised and frustrated as its meant my trousers don't really fit! But on track they will soon (may by an interim pair of jeans and of work trousers for the cooler weather - cheap ones though!)

    Anyhoo, back to today:
Breakfast: baby plum tomato and mushroom omlette (no milk, no cheese) with a cuppa (milk from HeA)
no time for a morning snack but will grab a drink; will force it down if I have to!
Lunch: homemade veg soup from yesterday plus HeB roll
tea: I'm planning cottage pie - will leave the Bisto out of mine to make it free then maybe add a spoon or two to moisten it when we eat

I need to bake for my parents today (now I have more time they are placing regular 'requests' with me; saves them spending on crap for lunches and snacks and gives me time to practice) but will prepare some free nibbles first to keep me off the biscuits! Need as few syns as possible today

May have an options hot choc with a dash of aerosol cream (3 syn) tonight so I have that chocolate hit to look forward to :)

    Morning :)

Started the alarm clock routine, but not sure sitting on the internet, watching TiVo will get me back on track :)

Only 12 syns left for today and tomorrow, pesky bank holiday wine.

B - Poached egg x 2, mushrooms, tomatoes, HEXB toast.

D - SW quiche and salad and a cup of speed soup

T - Mushy pea curry and either SW chips or cauliflower rice, depends if I've the energy for the supermarket or not.

Snacks - Pineapple, kiwi fruit, Apple, Muller light, mugshot if I need one.

Going to try for a syn free day today, just so I've a bit of leeway tomorrow night.

I know it isn't recommended but neither was fifty odd syn Monday, to be fair...

    HEXA - Milk and cheese
    HEXB - Toast

    Morning everyone!

Shala, I'd like to join the challenge. Can I go for 12lb please.

Today is groundhog day from yesterday because we've still got casserole left.

    B: Branflakes with milk
S: Fruit if I need something, can usually go til lunch
L: Salad and wholemeal roll with half an HEA of soft cheese
    S: Fruit & ff yoghurt
    D: Veg casserole.

Drinks of coffee, tea, green tea, water, vimto depending on what I fancy, will make sure I have at least one green tea and a few glasses of water.

Syns: Vimto 3.5, butter on casserole 2.5, will think of something else... Last night discovered about half a tube of smarties is only 3.5 so that was nice! Aiming for about 10.

I'm another turkey fan, and definitely agree it is easy to do SW there.

They do really good salads, if you like fish - your on to a winner as it is plentiful and really nice. There is the usual chips, fried breakfasts as well etc but if you try and ignore that and stick to steak, fish, salads and veg you can't go wrong. At the same time don't be too strict you are on holiday and you deserve to have a few little treats so make sure that you factor those in as well!

I am a gin drinker as well but on holiday switch to vodka as Diet Coke seems to be the only diet drink that they have sadly!!

Heading for a gain tonight I'm sure but hey its all right as I know why. Time to get refocused today and start getting ready for the next challenge!
