shala_moo I was thinking rhubarb would be free the I could syn the sugar. Have I got this all wrong. I am an online member so have to interpret things myself.

Rhubarb wouldn't be completely free as technically all cooked fruit has syns, only raw fruit is free. Not massive, just half a syn for 100g. Then you're right the syns are in the sugar (3 per tbsp.).

Alternatively as shala said you can have 450g:eek: as a HEB (still synning the sugar of course).

STS for me today but as it's TOTM I don't mind.

May go for a [STRIKE]sneaky[/STRIKE] interim weigh in on Saturday just to get the last possible amount for the end of this challenge and to give me a starting weight for the next one - sounds convincing doesn't it :p

Meg - I was going to suggest posting your menus as a lot of us do - it certainly helps you to stick to plan!

I'm having a Red day today:

B - porridge (HEB1) made with water and a little milk (part HEA)
L - ham & 50g corned beef salad (corned beef 1.5 syns); FF french style dressing
D - jerk chicken with tomato salsa (DH will also have rice with his)

    HEB2 - 2 Alpen Lights
Snacks: bananas, plums, donut peaches, pineapple as needed

Just need to go and buy some tomatoes for the salad and salsa - my own tomatoes aren't quite ready yet!

First discovery of on plan mission day 1 - one HEA of milk doesn't go all that far! Had cereal and a coffee and there's probably enough for one coffee left.

[Although the cat did beg the last bit of milk out of my bowl so I can top my supply up a little!]

Either go for two milk today or the better option of drinking plenty of water and green tea until after dinner when I always need a coffee!

Hi everyone, just popping in to introduce myself as I have started SW today. :)

My weigh day will be Friday but I've started today as I don't want to leave it another week. I am also going on holiday for two weeks on 5th September, but again, I felt I needed to start straight away!
I've been reading this thread for a while and you have all really inspired me. I think that's why I've decided to start straight away. There's always a reason to delay it otherwise isn't there?!
Yes! I put of my clambering back on this wagon for months, and only continued to gain. Welcome aboard!

My friend is organising a picnic lunch for Thursday and has asked me to take couscous and leaves. I've eaten couscous but never 'made' it. Which is the lowest syns? Easiest to do? Tastiest straight from packet? I really don't have time to be making dressings etc.

    Any advice welcome. TIA.:)

I second gbatey's recommendation. Ainsley Harriot's stuff is quick and simple, tasty, but quite low in syn.

shala_moo - Unless things have changed rhubarb has syns once cooked. I don't like sweetener either, so I'd toss it in with some apples. Then add to some pudding rice (home cooked in the slow cooker) for a evening / after tea snack.

Fell off the wagon yesterday, had to eat out without forward planning, that fall is gonna hurt :( Today aiming to keep the syns below ten. Pork tagliatelle this eve.

WELL DONE ON THE AWARDS, THE STAYING ON WAGONS AND THE LOSSES. Keep plodding folks :D

    Shala - 2 x 8 is good for me!!
I need to focus on this one so someone please kick my bum please!!!

    Bring on getting to target

First challenge can I say 10lb please shala?

How much do you have to lose to get to target?

Ok so we'll do 2 lots of 8 week challenges (that will finish 21st December)

So first challenge will start on the 1st September to the 26th October.. 8 weeks. Let me know your targets whenever, it's fine if you want to wait until this challenge has finished..

Annie, thank you for running the current challenge - you've done a grand job :T

    Green day for me today
    B - banana
L - carrot fritters (1) WM pitta (heb) mint yogurt, salad
T - kfc chicken(heb), jacket potato (hea cheese) salad, corn
    S - crisps (5) milk (hea) orange

The recipe i have for the KFC uses flour so i'm not sure what i'll use instead but maybe i'll just dust the chicken with the herbs and spices..

I remember thinking that Crabapple. I switched out using milk on my cereal most mornings and replaced it with low fat/no fat yoghurts over fruit and weetabix or made up syn free breakfast quiches - which also stand in for a snack later.

I only ever have cereal on a Red or Green day when I have 2 HEAs to use, except for porridge in the winter which I generally make with water and cook for 2 minutes in microwave, stir through a Mullerlight Vanilla (or banana custard) then cook again for 15 seconds.

I also usually have a chopped up banana or some frozen fruit with it.

I give myself an extra 100ml per day and count 2.5 syns. It's more than enough for me and it helps me use syns, which is helpful because I struggle to use more than about 5 most days (lucky me, I suppose) :).

Thank you for the ideas swipernoswiping and slimwriter. Gonna see how I do today and will try and be a bit more creative in future!

Might even have to brave the red milk to get a bit more volume, but I don't really like it!
