What can I do with bean sprouts apart from stirfry?
Can't do stirfry 2 days running and can't face a full bag of them in tonight's

I open freeze them and keep a bag for adding a handful to stir fry and things like Szechuan beef. I got 2 YS bags in Asda earlier in the week so well stocked for a while. They do go a bit soggy when cooked but all adds to the SF!

denise and holllie,I'm green with envy at you getting so low in target range. That's the way I've been for three years but finding it really difficult since last holiday.:o Hope to join you very soon.

Men (that's very large men) in our group always have extra syns too. Not sure of the number though. Maybe consultant will come along soon.

My final goal is a pair of pink jeans by Gloria Vanderbilt. I've always loved them.

Baby or shocking pink?! I love pink trousers, saw someone wearing baby pink cords years ago (when cords were fashionable :o) & hunted high & low for a pair. Eventually found some but they looked awful on me ~ I just didn't have the legs to carry them off :(

Website says 6.5 syns for 25g. That doesn't sound so bad unless you think that a 150g Family Bag would 39 syns!!!

Eek, thanks for that, maman!! I think the individual bags are 40g so will just weigh the 25g out I think & give DH the rest. I intend having wine syns at the weekend as well so don't want to go too mad on crisps.

durham, can you make a batch of mince how you would like it & portion it up to use whenever you make the family the version they like?? It must be so frustrating for you to have the same lb bobbing up & down :(

Well,I made a very tasty carrot (and lentil) soup for lunch. It was very roughly based on this recipe:
    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2089/spiced-carrot-and-lentil-soup
    except:
-I didn't have cumin seeds,so used same amount of cumin powder,
-I also didn't scoop out spices to add later,I just left them in pan and added rest of ingredients
-I also didn't add milk or oil
-as it was cooking, the stock was evapourating quite alot,so I added sploshes of 1/2 strength stock (otherwise I find it goes too salty as liquid evapourates)

Apart from that,I followed the recipe to the letter :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Nipping in to drop a popcorn bombshell :)

Sainsburys do a 6 pack of savoury popcorn; salted x 2 at 46 cals each, Salt and vinegar x 2 at 52 cals each, cheese and chive x 2 at 52 cals each.

I like them a lot and at 2.5-3 syns a bag, might be nice to take to the cinema with you.

£1.50 for a 6 pack is full price.

They have Fry Light at £1.50 too, any tips for the buttery one please as I got that to try?

I buy the Tesco equivalent of the sweet n salty and weigh out 13g out of the large bag and put the rest back in the cupboard:A. They last me ages.

I like the buttery frylight to cook mushrooms. It's also OK on jacket potatoes.

It seems the uses for mushy peas are endless!!

I make my Bolognese much the same way mim, but I also add sliced peppers and mushrooms. I love it full of veg, could never go back to just plain meat and onions now. I generally make it with YS 5% mince and make a big SC full with a tin of toms and a box of passata.

Sometimes people just realise you look good and different but can't fathom why. I just used to smile and say thank you. Since I've been at target I'll happily tell anyone who wants to know about SW.:D

I was planning to mix pudding rice with almond milk, sweetener and a good shake of nutmeg on top then bake in the oven. How are you doing yours?

I'm not fussed about using sweetener although I know it bothers some people. I don't use it very often. I'm just finishing the tub of Canderel that I bought almost 4 years ago when I joined SW!!:rotfl:

    My EE plan for today:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB porage, HEA milk
L: got some LOs to use up, mostly SF and a few potatoes
D: sausage and mash, onions, carrots, cabbage, peas
Syns: 2 for sausages, gravy and squirt of syrup

Maman I did try the rice pud as you plan but it didn't form a skin, just a hard crust

I am now doing it on the stove with water , when cooked and water absorbed I add sweetner , almond milk and loads of nutmeg
and let it simmer a bit. As I said its lovely but I do miss a nice skin.

As Manman says they will freeze, but I love the crunch they give.
I like to mix a handful with a chopped gerkin and a blob of light mayo, spoon it onto a slice of ham and roll up, or a handful mixed with philly can be used the same way. in fact I like them so much will even eat them on their own sprinked with vinegar.

    Hi Blue Eyed Girl

Do you have a special recipe for the rice pud that you could post please:D

    and is it free

Hi Minnibix this is the recipe I used.

    100g pudding rice

625ml Blue diamond almond breeze unsweetened milk (allowed 875mls for hexa on EE)

3-4 tbsps sweetener (or to taste)

    freshly grated nutmeg or cinnamon

Place all the above in a saucepan and simmer for about 15 mins and then place in an ovenproof dish and bake for 20 -25 mins on 180/350/Gas 4. Might go a bit brown but doesn't really get a good skin on the top ;). This amount makes two good big portions. I used the milk as hexA and everything else was free. Hth

Hollie to throw a spanner in the works I've also heard if your starting weight is over 18stone you get more syns ;)

However as far as I'm aware and have read in all the booklets
15 is standard for men and women x

I wasn't offered any extra syns :(:D There again I find I don't always use my full allowance.
