I thought exactly the same thing!!:D

Which noodles do you use mim? Are they free? I got a couple of packets of YS beansprouts when I was in Asda getting fuel yesterday so would like stir-fry as a lunch option.

I just use the cheap instant ones from either Lidl or Aldi. I was told all noodles were free. Used them today as its' always a rush to get lunch on shopping days.

ETA: Just checked the packet and it works out at 5 syns for the packet, that must be one of the areas I've been going wrong.

The Amoy straight to wok noodles are free so will use those in future instead.

durham-mim I was just about to say that for a long time I assumed the cheap instant noodles (I bought them from ASDA or Tesco) were free, and it was a while before I realised they are not.I then wondered if the noodles themselves were free(because I usually only eat them with soy sauce,no sachet),and the syns were in the flavoured powder.I asked many people,my consultant at the time wasn't sure....Finally we got to the bottom of it.It is to do with the way they are manufactured,(making them quick-cooking),that adds the syns.Think they are pre-cooked/prepared in oil (you can sometimes see the oil in the water as it drains off.)
So it was back to expensive Batchelors noodles for me.What other (syn-free) brands do people use?

Have just made squash and red pepper soup for lunch.Takes forever to make, but tastes gorgeous.

Thanks for the reply. I think it's the Amoy Rice noodles that are free. I've had rice noodles and found them so thin (the dried ones from Asian supermarket) that they cook to mush in a stir fry.

I know the Batchelors Super Low Fat ones are free but I wondered if there was a cheaper free brand around.

ETA: Cross posted saver upper. I think the basic dried noodles (as in Asian stores) are free so you're right it's about how they're cooked. Like you, I'm looking for quick, cheap, free and easy! (don't want much do we;)).

Sorry but the Amoy straight to wok noodles aren't free - only the rice noodles. The others vary between 1 and 2 depending on which ones they are.

As far as I know the only ones which are free are any of the dried noodles - I usually use the Sharwood ones.

    Hi all
Back on it today after a blissful week off and a final fling of a meal out yesterday. I did feel guilty so I had crab cakes to start (about the healthiest thing they had!) and lemon and herb salmon with sugar snap peas and green beans for main (although I had mash with it and the most beautiful milkshake which was probably about 2 months worth of syns) :o
Been to the gym today and been to the market for some fresh fruit- strawberries and cherries and the evil bananas :o sorry people! I'm being stubborn and not giving up my bananas! I also have apples and satsumas at home plus a few kiwis and pears so that should do me until Friday when OH and I do the shopping. Also bought some WW dessert yoghurts as they were on offer for a quid at the Co-op, just checked and they're free so I shall enjoy I think.
    Today's menu:
B: HEXB Weetabix with Mullerlight and banana, Frappucino with HEXA milk
L: mixed salad with BM tikka chunks, apple, litre and a half of water at gym and with lunch
T: tuna pasta (tin of tuna and passata) fresh strawberries, cherries, WW dessert yoghurt
S: bag of salt and vinegar Ryvita Minis (4.5 syns) cheese twist (2 syns)
    Syns: 6.5
Body magic: 1.5 hours cardio at the gym
    Hope everyone's ok x
